McFadden, Miller Riewerts, Schltzckebier, Van Bebb:er and Mayor READING OF THE JOURNAL: THe minutes of the last regular meeting of August 16th were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: - The rion-tFly reports-of the , Police Judge, 4edito• and Treasurer,'� Poundman and City Wharfinger Were read and filed,' REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES: 'The Finance Uom submitted its re' -port, whereupon Resolution #39'56 C. S, introduced by Councilman Miller, se:cdrided by-Councilman Schluckebier, directing the Auditor to draw warrants - against -the various City Funds, in payment of claims a ' llowed and apprQved'b.y the Finance Committee adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS AND COA Communi c f the Building Committee of the Hermann Sons inviting the members of the City Couftcil - toatt e - nd * the laying of the cornerstone of their new lodge on September 7th, read and filed and 'on motion by Councilman Van 'Bebber., by Councilman the invitation was accepted. Fetltlon from P. H. Stebbing f or the ropalr of J Street, betwen I 5th and 6th Streets, read and filed and to, the Street Committee,. Gommunication from the Ma:yorsf Conference of Central California,, regarding' the establishment of a Public; Utility Service Bureau.was read and taken under advisement until the next meeting of the City Council. NEW BUSINESS: The Buildings-and Grounds Committee reported having interviewed the brid 9 e tender regarding the installation of a basin and lavatory in the "D" Street bridge cabin and recommended that this work be dropped f or the present. Mr. J. H. Button addressed the, Council asking that the license on taxicabs be removed or readjusted.. The matter was discussed pro and con and no action taken. Plans for the improvement of Martha St were and'examin and the City Engineer was directed to have specifications and grade ready for the next meeting: Tax rate Resolution x,'3957 C.
