Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Farrell.
ROLL 'CALL:
Councilmen present: Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts, Van
Bebber and Mayor Farrell.
Absent: Councilman Schluckeb.ier.

The minutes of the last regular meeting of November 3rd were
read, corrected and approved as corrected.
,REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
T e City Attorney submitted a written opinion regarding an
ordi su�ggested'by the Merchants Credit Aas;ociation. Attorney
Cromwell stated that the City of Petaluma►s Ordinance No. 239 C.S. provides
for a similar license on itinerant salesmen, the rate, however, being
$25.00 per month. instead of $5.0.00,per day.. Filed.-
-REPORTS OF•STANDING COMMITTEES:
The inance 'Committee submitted its. report, whereupon
Resolution. #3`968 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, directing
the Auditor to draw warrant against the various City Funds in pa; TM ent
of'claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6
affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
Stop button Liberty &.West.er-n -Ave.
The St Committ filed a written report recommending that
a stop button be placed on the south side of W:ester-n,Avenue where it
intersects Liberty Street. The matter was referred to the City Attorney
with directions to prepare an ordinance covering it.
Li ghts - North Main St
Councilman McFadden reported on the bettor lighting of North
Main Street, recommending that bracket lights of 400 candlepower be
installed from Prospect Street to Magnolia. Avenue. The recommendation
was aaaepted and the Light Committee given ,power to act in the installation
of said lights.
Taxicab :.license ordinance:
Councilman'McFadden. reported that the Merchants Committee of the
Chamber of C :doe's no wish to take a n y action o the . suggest•
amendments to the taxicab ordinance. The report of the Taxicab Committee
was discussed at length and the City Attorney was direct d t� rar

for es:ch additional cab. The Chief of-' Police was directed to assign one
parking space to each taxicab company for its exclusive use.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:

Applications from Gene M. Dorham and Nathan H. Jones,, for
positions as police officers read and filed.
.Application from M. G. Miller for the appointment to,the position
as Chief of Police, read and filed.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
Ord inance No. '374 C.S, introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded
by Gouncilman McFadden, amending Ordinance No. 239 C.,S. by imposing a
license fee upon the business of public miniature golf courses, read,
approved by the City Attorney and ordered published.
Martha St. change of grade:

Martha Street improvement:
Resolution 43971 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Riewerts,
instructing the City Engineer to preps -re plans and specifications
for the - improvement of Martha Street, from the easterly line of
Kentucky Street to the westerly line of Main. Street, and t,o
present the same to this Council for approval, adopted by 6 affirmative
votes, 1 absentee
Protest - Kuppinger application for freight privileges:

protesting the granting of a certificate of conveniencb to Charles
Kuppinger, for a permit to establish an auto freight truck line_
between. Lake County.and San Francisco, adopted by 6 affirmative votes,

.Condition of D St. bridge :'
The Superintendent *o.f Streets reported that he believes
the D St. bridge to be in an unsafe condi'ti,on,. 'The Mayor stated
that he would obtain the services of an expert bridge engineer to
inspect the structure and give us his opinion: -
Hou.se numbers on curbs:,;
Permission was' granted :Messrs. Triplett and Hayden to
solicit the business of painting house numbers on curbs and door-
steps.
Chauffeurs to :obtain drivers licenses:
- Councilmen Miller and Van. Bebber were appointed a
special corm.it °tee to bring in an ordinance providing that drivers of
taxicabs, delivery wagons, etc. be subject to police regulation,
examination and license .
Councilman Riewerts requested that.the'police department
be asked to keep a closer check on cars parked in the business
district.
