Regular" meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma
called to order' by Mayor Farrell.
ROLL CALL_:
Present: Councilmen Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts,
Schluckebier, Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell.
REA DING OF THE JOURNAL

the special meetings of March 4th and 9th were read and approved.as
recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The Garbage Inspector submitted a detailed report of.hs
fourth inspection, dated March 16,'1931. Filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMLTTEES:
e finance Comm ttee.submit'ted its report, whereupon
Resolution #4002, G.S.
introduced by Councilman 1,1iller, seconded by Councilman_ McFadden,
directing the Auditor to draw. warrants against the various City Funds
in payment of claims all'ozNed and approved by the Finance Committee,,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Councilman Miller reported that work had been started on the
revision of ordinances pertaining to the fire department.
Councilman Miller reported having interviewed the President
of the Taylor Milling Company in Lo's Angeles and having secured a
deed for land necessary for the river widening project for the sum
Of $$-000 Councilman 14iller wa complimented by Mayor Farrell
on the success of his mission.

Communication from. Chas 0. Eby asking that his property
be protected from damage caused by high school students throwing
baseballs into his property; Heaking the windows at his home, etc.
was read and filed Mr. Eby also personally addressed the Council
on the matter.. No action taken..
Communications from the League of California Muncpa_lities,
regarding pending legislation, read, filed and.referred to the City
Attorney.
NEW BUSINESS:
Final payment - Martha Street':
1-1 Resolution #4004 C.S.
introduced by Councilman McFadden, seconded by Councilman. Van Bebber,
authorizing and instructing the Auditor to draw a warrant on the
Street Fund for the sum of $459.62, payable to A. Sc:hlunegar, being
the' final ,payment of 25% of the contract price for the improvement
of Martha Street, adopted by 7 affirmative votes..
The Mayor reported that contracts for the furnishing of
gasoline to the City of Petaluma have now expired and suggested that
the contract be awarded to the lowest bidder. The suggestion met
with the approval of the members of the City Council, whereupon
Resolution #4005 C..S.:
introduced by Councilman Ri•ewerts, seconded 'by Councilman Ingerson,
directing the Clerk to advertise for bids and authorizing the Id
to accept the lowest bid submitted and execute any contract pursuant
thereto, adopted`by'7 affirmative votes.
James J. 'uahs:h, civil- engineer of San Francisco, verbally
presented to the City Council hi.s application as dngineer for the
proposed bascule bridge across the river at D Street.

instructing the Superintendent of Streets to cooperate with the
committee -in charge of "The Frolic of the . Rabbits" to the extent of

resolving that the City of Petaluma is opposed to.the establishment
of any new freight service which may divert freight revenue from the
Northwestern Pacific, Railroad Company, adopted. by 7: affirmative votes.

petitioning the Railroad Comms.siori of the State of California, to
refuse and deny the application of ' D..- Fowler for authority to operate
auto trucks for the transportation, of freight between San Francisco and
Ukiah, °adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Chief of Police Peters reported that in his opinion he did not.
believe it necessary to place a stop button at the corner of English
and Fair ' S.treet. The matter was di,s,cussed and referred to Councilman
Van Bobber for further investigation..
Mr. 11. C. Adsit introduced. Mr Sinclai -r of the Chico Paint
Company who demonstrated the merits of paint made from Portland Cement
