ROLL CA LL: resent: Councilmen Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts, Schluckebier, Van Bebber 'and. Mayor Farrell. READING OF THE JOURNAL: he minutes of the last regular meeting of March 16 and the special meeting of March 20 were read and approved as recorded. ' REPORTS OF OFFICERS: The monthly reports of the City Wharfinger, Police Judge, Poundman, Auditor and Treasurer were read and filed.. The Auditor also submitted a statement showing the apportionment of $902.78, being money remaining in the unapportioned fund.. Filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES: The Fin.anae Committee submitted it,s report, whereupon Resolution #4010 C.S. introduced by Councilman Schluckebier, seconded by Councilman Miller, directing the Auditor to dram warrants against..the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affi „rmative votes. Stop button English & Fair Sts. Councilman Van- Bebber and Chief of. Police Peters reported on the need of a stop button at English & Fair Street, recommending that one be placed at that location. The City'Attorney was directed to bring in an amendment to the traffic ordinance to provide for the same.` PETITTONS AND COMMUNICATIONS; Acknowledgment of offering, signed by members of the Husler family, read and filed, Application of the Petaluma Sausage Factory for permission to sell soft drinks at 1407 E. Washington Street, read and filed, and Resolution ##4011 C .S. introduced by- Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Ingerson, granting said application, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Application from Vli. J. Ashley for the position of construction engineer- in connection with the erection of a new bridge across the river at D.S.treet, read and filed. Appli,c:ation from 8-Burk for permission to show in Petaluma from .June 22 to 28 inclusive, read and filed,, and Resolution ,`#4012 C.S. introduced. by Councilman Van Bebber, aeconded by Councilman McFadden, granting said application, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Linda Vista Street Improvement: Petition signed by 26 property owners asking that Hill Blvd., Hayes Avenue and.Belle View Avenue be permanently 'improved as per specifications required on oil bound macadam streets, was read and filed. Later brought up under the head of new bu.s,iness and discussed, Attorney Schwobeda and 14r. W. Deiss, appearing on behalf of the property owners. The matter was r ?g�rred.to the Street Committee for investigation of the petition andyassis °tance to the petitioners. ® NEW BUSINESS a io interfer.ence: Mr., Russel Bjorn addressed the Council on the subject of minimizing radio interferences and submitted copies of ordinances from Po AlZand, Los Angeles and Sacramento. Referred to a special committee composed of Councilmen S'chluckebier and McFadden for investigation and report:,. The matter of repairing Hopper and Erwin Streets was referred to the Superintendent of Streets. The Mayor reported having contracted with the Standard Oil Company and the Union Oil Company to supply gasoline to the City of Petaluma for the next year. The deed of a new asphaltum heating Mettle for the Street Department was.referred to the Finance Committee. The Mayor welcomed the members of the 20 -30 Club who were present as visitors and Mr. Charles Young, as Chairman of the Civic Improvement Committee of the Club, replied to the 'Mayor and Council., explaining why the club and present and formally offering the co- operation the club in all civic improvement programs.. The Mayor later spoke: of the re routing' of the traffic through Petaluma; the need of a new bridge- across D Street and a .new system of sewage di :spos_al. He stated that he hoped the1eproblems 2 ; would be considered and discussed by all such civIe 'bodies as the 20 -30 Club and reported that the matter of a new sewage system .would be discussed at the open forum and breakfast of the Chamber of Commerce directors on April 21st. Ex- Councifiman Morris N:. Fredericks extended an invitation to the City Council to attend the concert given at the Junior High School gymnasium on next Saturday evening for the benefit of the Druidic Grand Grove fund and tie Petaluma School band instrument fund. Council -man Riewerts suggested. that traffic lanes be marked on North Main Street. in order to expedite traffic and the matter was referred to the Street Committee and Chief of Police.. mayor Farrell urged that the Egg City Minstrels be given financial-assistance in the amount of 4135.00 from.. the money appropriated to the Music Commission. The matter was left with the Mayor to be taken up with the Music. Gotmisaio.n, Resolution 4013 C.S. . introduced by Councilman McFadden, seconded'by Councilman ]Biller, extending the sympathy of the Council to the wife and family of the late E. A., Hus er, unanimously adopted..
