Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Farrell.
ROLL CALL;
Present: Councilmen Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts,
Schluckebier, Van Bebber and`Mayor Farrell.
READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting of Ju°l7'20th were read,
and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The monthly reports of the Auditor and Treasurer, Pol1ce,J_udge,
Poundman,and City Wharf.inger were read, and filed.
The annual reportof the Library Trustees was read and filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution ,4037 C -.,S.
introduced by Councilman Schluckebier, seconded by Councilman McFadden,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various- City Funds in
payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adolbted
by 7 affirmative votes.
The Street Committee reported on the painting, of the Washington
Street bridge,, recommending that the specifications for same be changed
to provide for on coat of paint instead of three. The Street Committee
wtks directed to draw up new specifications' and proceed with the work.
PETITIONS AND'C;OMMUNICATIONS:
Application fror•! Paytn & Takit „Store for permission, to sell
soft *drinks at 153 Kentucky Street, read and filed, and
Resolution #4038 C.S.
introduced by Councilman McFadden., seconded by Councilman Schluckebier,
granting said application, adop't;ed by 7 affirmative votes.
Notice from the War Departraeni .re application. of H. 'P. Lauritzen,
for a permit to construct a fender line, etc. at Haystack Landing; read
and- filed..
Application from Fred A. Gamboni, specialist in public
improvement assessments applying for,work in the making up of preliminary
reports now necessary on public improvements, read and filed.
Communication from the California State Automobile Association,
calling attention to the change in the speed laws In. business and resident-
ial districts was read and filed. On motion by Councilman Miller, seconded
by Councilman Riewerts, the Mayor was authorized to, purchase necessary
new signs indicating thb Speed limits.
INTRODUCTION OF- ORDINAN.CES.:
Ordindhce No. 384.C..S. introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded
by Councilman Van Bebber, repealing Ordinance No. 371 C.S. and amending,
section. l3 -of Ordinance No. 358 C.S. was read, approved by the City
.Attorney and ordered posted,.
NEW BUSINESS
Councilman McFadden reported that Mrs. Hamilton had declined
the office of President of the Planning Commission for another term
and that Roy Evans had been elected to said of -five. The 'Clerk was
directed to. forward a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Hamilton for her
splendid service to the C.ity9 for the past f ew years as President of
the Planning Commission..

appointing Harry Benton, Robert Steitz and Ida Mattei,.members of the Park
Commission, and C. A. Miller, R. 'S'. Adams, Ellis Har-t.'xxd Art S.. Newburgh,
and Edward-S,o6eranes, members of the Fire Commission, for the ensuing
term.
Removal_of guy pole on N. Main St.
The City Clerk reported that the Pacific Gas & Electric
Company had notifed her. that the guy_ pole on North Main Street, South
of Oak Street, had been removed,.

Councilman Ing ers-on brought,up the matter of an ordinance
requiring, persons to obtain a permit before .starting fires within the
city limits: The subject was discussed and it was suggested that
Mr. Ingerson meet with the Fire Gonmissioriers, at their. --next.. meeting; .
and put the matter to them.,
The Superintendent of Streets was directed to plane warning signs
at the intersection of Kentucky and -vVest Streets.
