Regarding the,request of tho,Chlef of Police for additional policemen'l-It was agree,d that.the Finance Committee would meet with the Music Commission at 4*0clock'P.M.'on' September 151tl' and distus,s a reduction 'in the apportionment of money for use of the Music Commission. Pursuant to Resolution of Intention x`4042 C.S. the Council of the City of Petaluma met in.the Council Chamber of the City Hall at the hour -of 8 o'clock P..M. September 14, 1931, for the purpose of*considering protests in -the matter of the improvement of Belle View Avenue,, Hill Boulevard and Hayes Avenue'. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Farrell. ROLL ,C:Ah: ; .Present: Councilmen Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts, Schluckebier, Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell. A written petition, protesting and objecting to the propgsed improveme'nt.was submitted by Attorneys-Lounibos and McGoldrick on behalf of certain property owners in the district; This petition was read and filed and the Council proceeded to hear oral arguments upon behalf of the protestants and upon the part of the property owners desiring the work performed. . Attorneys Lotanibos and McGoldrick; and Mrs. E. M. Ruhlman, Mrs.. Annie Laurie Bell.,, and Mr. J. A. Wilson, spoke as protestants. The protesting property owners, representing large areas of property in the district, stated that they were not, at this time, .financially able to bear the cost of this improvement. Attorney Schwobeda addressed the Council for the proponents of the improvement;, urging that the work.be done.so as to provide egress and ingress from and to the property in this subdivision. His plea was supported by Postmaster Lovejoy, who reported that on account of the condition of the streets, mail could not be delivered .in that section.. The following persons owning property in th`e..dist-riot also addressed' the Council in support of the Resolution of Intention: Mr. ft. Deiss, Mr. G. R. Winn, Mr. Robert R. Green, Mr. L. A. Smart., Mrs. H. J. Haskell, - Mrs. Elizabeth Fowler and Mr. Geo. Duncan. ApJQURNMENT: After a full discussion the hearing was- continued until 7 o'clock on September 21st,, 1931. ATTEST': �tity 91 k
