Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma
called to order by Mayor Farrell.
ROLL.CALL: Present: Councilmen In.gerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts,
Schluckebier, Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell.
READING .OF THE JOURNAL:
The` minutes of th.e meetings of September 8th, 14th; 21st and
28th were read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS.:
The monthly reports of the Police Judge, Poundman, City
U"t!harfinger, Auditor.' .anal Treasurer were• read and filed.
The City Attorney filed a -written opinion. as to whether or
not the inoney in the ftsic Fund might be legally tran.sferred to the
Police Fund.
REPORTS OF STANDT.NG.COMMhTTEES:
-The .Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #4051 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Ingerson, seconded by Councilman. Schluckebier,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants on the vari-ous City Funds in
payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Communication from. the McNally Insurance Agency regarding
insurance coverage on traffic signals and electroliers, read and filed..

Applications for the position of police officer; read,
discussed without action and filed..
Re -zoning Geo. P7. WcNear ppty:
Report Prom the City Flan.ning Commission recommending that
the Application of Geo. P. McNear for the re -zoning of his property
on Madison Street, be re --zoned from residential to business or commercial
zone, read and'filed.
INTR'ODUCTI,ON OF ORDINANCES:
Ordinac:e-No. 385 C.S. introduced by Councilman McFadden,
seconded by Councilman Miller, re -.zoning certain property -on the
Northwest side of Madison Street, between Bremen and Edith Streets,
from r.esiddnce - district or. zone into business or commercial zone
and amending the official zoning map of the,Ci'ty of Petaluma to
conform thereto; was read, approved. by the City Attorney, and ordered
posted. - - ..-.. .-.-
Ordinance No. 386..C,..S. introduced by Councilman Miller,
seconded by Councilinan'Van Bebber, creating -the office of garbage
inspector; was` read, approved by ;the City, Attorney; and ordered posted.
- NEW BUSINESS :
Chairman Miller of the Finance Committee reported that he
had met with the Music Commission and that they had reached a plan
totake .10300•;=04 from the Music Commission this year and $300.00 next
year, this money to assist in paying the .salary of an additional
police officer.
Delegation of local merchants appeared,b efore the Council
-relative to non-resident un -licensed peddles and hawkers. Mr.
B. P. George was spokesman..and-urged..the enforcement of the license
ordinance. On motion the City Attorney was directed.to prepare
nec6ssary'amendments to ordinance 23:9 to comply with the suggestions
as made by'the speakers, attorney and councilmen. In this connecti-on
Councilmen Van Bebber and Schluckebier were named. a special committee.
to 'co-operate with. the grocers corr.nittee and attorney in. preparing
I mendments or a new ordinance.
