December 7, 1931.
Regular meeting of the Council of the City -of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Farrell.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen Inger'so.n, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts,
Schluckebier, Van Bebb er and Mayor Farrell.
REA-DING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes'of the last regular meeting of November 16th were
read�and approved as recorded:
REPORTS,OF OFFICERS:
The monthly reports of the City Wharfinger, Poundman, Auditor,
Treasurer, Police Judge, and _Librarian were read and filed..
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Committee submitted i'ts report, whereupon
Resolution #4068 C.S.
introduced.by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Schluckebier,
directing the Auditor to•draw warrants against the various Citi Funds
in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
PETI TI ONS° AND COMMUNICATIONS:
communication from the California State Automobile Association,
stating that a mass meeting would be held in San Francisco on
December 10th, in order that all persons interested in the construct-
ion of the Golden Gate Bridge, might be heard, and inviting the
City of Petaluma to send a representative to said meeting, read,
filed and referred to the Chamber of Commerce.
Letter from Mr. Lindsay, 'Executive of the Petaluma Area Council
Boy Scouts, thanking the Council for providing ways and means for
the scouts to participate in the Armistice Day Celebration at Santa
Rosa, read and filed.
Communication from the National Conference on City Planning,
asking,that a member of the City Council be appointed to serve on
the State' -Wide Committee, read and filed. Mayor Farrell appointed
Councilman McFadden as a member of the Committee.
NEW BUSINESS.:
Dr. L. Ji.Snow and Mr. Phillip Keller addressed the Council
on behalf of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars,
asking that steps be taken for the arrangement of a celebration in
commemoration of the birth of George Washington, such celebrations
beiing'planned throughout the nation. Mayor Farnell agreed to
meet with: them and assist in the formation of a Citizens Committee
to prepare for this celebration.
Cpuncilman Riewerts reported having received an application
for the position of custodian of the City .Dumps. The matter was
referred back to Councilman Riewerts, with power to act.
Hog Farm:'
An ,application to rent a portion of the Sewer farm for the
establishment of a small hog farm was discussed and. referred to the
Buildings and Grounds Committee for investigation.
Attorney Cromwell called attention to the lack of warning lights
on D and 4th Streets, whexe rocks are strewn on the sidewalks.
Referred -to the Superintendent of Streets.
Councilman McFadden reported, having regei:ved a request from the
Secretary of the Library Board .for ornamental lights around the
Library. The request was tabled owing to lack of funds for this
purpose.
Representatives of the Blue Ribbon Products.Co..addressed the
Council asking that the license fee.charged solicitors be reduced.
The matter was taken under advisement.
Councilman Ingers_on was asked to investigate the problem of
the right-of-way f`'or3 the I Street sewer; also to seek a solution to

the sewer problem on North Webster Street.

Mayor Farrell reported that the -hearing on the application of
the City of Petaluma,before the VkTar Department, to construct a new draw
bridge across the river at D Street,'will tale place on January 8th.
A new roof for the pa.valion. at Kenilworth Park was -discussed
without action.
The request of the Board of Education for a culvert on Sheldon
Street was referred back to them. It was suggested -that the school
board buy the necessary material and have.it installed by the unemployed
under the supervision of the_Superintenddnt of Streets.
