HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 98-105 06/01/1998 Resolution No. 98-105 N.C.S. i 2 of the City of Petaluma, California 3 AUTHORIZING ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH NOR-CAL PUMP & 4 WELL Si?RVICE; FOR THE llRILLING, CASING., AND TESTING OF THREE 5 MUNICIPAL WATER WELLS 6 7 8 WHEREAS, the City's General Plan recommends the City carry out capital improvement 9 projects that will enhance the efficiency of the supply system and insure adequate supplies for 10 the future; and 11 12 WHEREAS, it was recommended in the 1985 Water System Capacity Study done by ] 3 Brown & Caldwell Consulting Engineers that the City should strive to provide a local capability 14 of supplying "between 50 and 75 percent oP annual average daily demand; 67 percent is a 15 reasonable capability of the local supply' ;and 16 ]7 WHEREAS, Petaluma should currently be capable of producing 5.5 million gallons per 18 day (mgd) from its local supply; and 19 20 WHEREAS, current local production capability is about 4.6 mgd; and 21 22 WI-IEREAS, two existing City waterwells located at Stations 9 and 1 1 were drill"ed in the 23 early 1950's, are failing and need to be redrilled to increasereliability and water quality; and 24 25 WHEREAS, requests for bids were sent out for the drilling, casing and testing of three 26 municipal water wells to increase the capacity and improve reliability of the City's groundwater 27 supply system; and 28 29 WHEREAS, two responses to requests for bids were received from Weeks Drilling & 30 Pump Co., Inc., Sebastopol, Califo~roia ($146,897.00) and Nor-Cal Pump & Well Service ] 104 31 Oswald Road, Yuba City, CA 95991 ($137,029.89). 32 Resolution No. 98-lOS N.as. Page l of 2 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED that the City Council authorizes entering into ' 2 a contract with Nor-Cal Pump & Well Service for the drilling, casing and testing of three 3 municipal water wells to be located at the City's Station 9 and Station I 1 well sites and on City 4 property adjacent to Cross Creels Subdivision. 5 Under the power andauthority conferred upon this Council by the Charter of said City.
