Regular •meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Farrell..
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen McFadden, Miller, Riewerts, Schluckeber,
Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell.
Absent: Councilman Ingerson
READING. OF THEt JOURNA
The minutes of the last regular meeting of July 18th were read
and approved as recorded,
REPORTS OFFICER
The monthly reports of Poundman, Police Judge, Wharfinger,
Librarian, Auditor,and'Tr-easurer were read and filed.
REPORTS OF S TANDING COMMI TTEES
The Finance CorrimTE.tee, submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #4119 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Schluckebier, seconded by Councilman. Riewerts,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various! Funds
in payment claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee,
adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
Counci.lman.Schluckeb er.reported having investigated the
complaint of property,owners in the neighborhood of Fair and Sheldon
Streets regarding sbme old machinery -yhi,ch is at present standing on
a'vacant `lot, and stated, that. according to City Attorney Cromwell,
the city of Petaluma has h jurisdiction in the matter.
Progress was reported in the matter of the improvement of
Mt. View Avenue.
Councilman 'McFadden submitted a written report of rules and
regulations for the government of the Police Department which was
read and filed.
PETITI AND COMMUNICATIONS:
A communication from the Nehi Bottling Co. demanding the return
of $30.0q which they claim has been unlawfully collected as a license
tax, read, filed,and referred to the City Attorney.
Petition from.Wm. H. Bihn asking permission to connect to the
city sewer at $odega Avenue, read and filed, and
Resolution #4120 C.S.
introduced by Councilman McFadden, seconded by Councilman Miller,
granting said privilege, adopted by 6,affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
Telegram from John W. Hopkins, Captain of Company "M ",.thanking
the City for its recent donation, read and filed.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES
Ordinance No. 93 introduced by Councilman Ri.ewerts,
seconded by Councilman Schluckebier, providing for the sale and exchange
of public property of the City of Petaluma to and with the McNe`ar
C'omp'any, a California Corporation, in consideration for the transfer
to the City of Petaluma of two parcels of land necessary for: the con -
struction. of a bascule bridge, together with the approaches =thereto,
a:cr6as Petaluma River at or near D Street in the City of Petaluma., was
read approved by the City Attorney, and ordered, .published. -
NMIV BUSINESS
,Douglas re- .zoning suit:
City Attorney Cromwell reported that Superior Judge. Hilliard
Comstock had recently decided against the City in a suit by
R. A,
., Douglas, to compel the City Clerk to issue a permit for the
erection of a service station on the 'corner of Third & Streets..
Mrs. Sam Cassiday addres;s.ed.the Council complaining of the
noise made by the drum .corpp which has been practicing recently in the
school Yard- A and Fifth Streets. 'The Mayor promised to investigate
the. matter.

Councilman Van Bebber :started that he believed the present
license on,dogs excessive and that the same should be lowered.

introduced by Councilman McFadden, seconded by Councilman Miller,
appropriating the .sum of 025.00 to Company M,' adopted by 6 affirmative
votes, i absentee. `
The Superintendent of Streets reported the need for
improving Hopper Street to take care of the traffic which will
be diverted from the D :Street bridge, and- stated that the: cost would
be approximately $960.00. He was directed toproceed wit1j :' the
work.
