Present: Councilmen Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Ri•.ewerts, Schluckebier, Van Bebber, and Mayor Farrell.. READING OF THE JOURNAL:: The minutes of.the last regular meeting of September 6th'.were read and.approved as recorded. REPORTS- OF OFFICERS:: City ngineer• Gonzalez.reported 'the completion of the improve ment of Mt. View Avenue, also the completion of the 80 foot extension of the 10th Street sewer, between B and.,D Streets. The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of Ordinance N6 39`5 C. S. REPORTS. OF STAN DING C,OMMITTEES:' The Finance ommittee submitted its,report, whereupon Resolution #4128 C:S. introduced by Councilman.M:cFadden, seconded by G,ounci'lman Schluckebier, directing the Auditor to= draw warrants against the various " City Funds° in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Commit adopted by 7 - affirmative votes . Councilman Riewerts reported .the , request of '` Gustafson: and Stein to rent a portion of Levee Street for the 'storage of shells.. The . matter was referred to the Street Committea invest gatibn� and report back. The _matter of repairing the bulkhead .of •Thomps,on Creek . near the Nickson home was discussed,, the Street Superintendent advising that he had a plan for doing said work,, using of the foundation of the old D Street bridge for material. PETITION_ S AND COMMUNICATION Invitation from the George Washington ..Bi- Centenni'al•Committee of Veterans Organizations, asking the .Council to_,participate iri °the patriotic parade to be staged on October 19th, was read and - fi`1•ed and the Clerk directed to notify the committee of the Council l's accep,tarnce of said invitation. Application of Henry N. Wallace for the ,pos'tion oft Ihspe'ctor on the D Street Bridge, read and filed. - .,w•, i Applications from Bud Fritsch, Ernest Henricksen,, Ed Me:go,' and D. L. Wilson, for the position of bridge tender of the new D St bridge,, read and filed: Communi'c°ations from Wm. J_. Locke,.and the Mayor bf Emeryville, regarding the dismissal of Mr.. Locke as Secretary- Manager of i the League of California 'Muni.cipaliti and asking that the cities 'send' delegates to the coming convention of the League, read and filed. Petition of R..W... Burrows for the 'renewal of his lease on the shoe "factory property,.'read and filed. It was the consensus of opinion that Mr. Burrows be granted a.renewal of his, lease under- same terms and conditions-,;_ and the City Attorney was directed - "to` prepare the necessary papers for the leasing of said property. ADOPTION OF O RDINANCES :° = Ordinance No._ 3:9:5. C'.;S. introduced by Councilman Van'- .Bebb.er, seconded by Councilman Ingers amending section 11 of Ordinance No. 195 C:S. providing f the licensing of dogs, came -up regularly and was adopted by 7•affrmative votes. °d Ordinance rto. 396 C. Ingerson, providing for the leasing to the Royal Tallow :and Soap Company, Inc. a corporation, of certain_ land belonging to the City of Petaluma, came up regularly and was - adopted by '7 affirmative votes. 1 F, Y� 0.111 0 '355 NEW BUSINESS The City Engineer reported that Wallace Park is now being repaired by the Pacific Gas and E16:ctiic Company. Chief of Police Peters was authorized to attend the Peace Officer's Obnvention at- Fresno.. The Superintendent of Streets was directed to notify the North- 'western Pacific Railroad Gompany.of the ordinance pertaining to the cleaning off of grass and-weeds from vacant, lots and to ask ahem. to comply `with said or.dft&ncei; The o'f Streets was also directed to place warning signals at 7th Street'-and at Walnut Street.
