Regular meeting of the. Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor.Farrelli

The finance Committee submitted its report, Whereupon
Resolution #4136 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Schluckebier, seconded by Councilman
Miller, directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various
City Funds 'i:n . payment of ,cli -ims allowed, and approved by •th.6 Finance
Committee, - adopted by 7 affirmative votes. , ,
PETITIONS AND C OMMUNICATI ONS . :
Application of Albert C. Bigelow, for the pos of
bridge tender of the new D Street%Bridge read and filed,.
Petition supporting the application 'of -. Geo. J 0. Davis

Gommunication from the Veterans Home inviting the Mayor
and Council to attend the laying,of .the cornerstone of the'new
hospital at Yountville on October 19, read and,filed.;
Invitation from the Commandantis Office inviting the
pe:opl.e of Petaluma to attend the Navy Day program at Mare Island,,
read and filed.
Letter from the League of California 'Muni cipaliti.es,
calling attention to , the meeting of the North Bay League, to: be
held in Ukiah on October 21st, read and filed,.. ', Mayor .Fahrrell-
urged the members of the City Council and the city officials
to attend this meeting.
Communication from Mayor Farrell, as Chairman of`the
Petaluma Armistice Day Committee,, inviting the City Council to
participate in th.e.Armistice Day .a6lebra.tion , at Healdsbur.g on
November 11, read and filed and invitation unanimously accepted

Communication from Miss Lee.ch,, Librarian, in which the,
Library Board expres:.sed its wish to receive a statement outlining

suggest, read and filed. This matter was considered by the
Council and. it was the consensus of opinion that the Library
Board should follow the same proceedure in the payment of its
claims as is used by the other departments of the city. The
Clerk was directed to so inform °the Library Board.
INTRO DUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
An ordinance providing for a license tax on automobiles,
trucks, used in the delivery of goods to customers situated

The Clerk was directed to write to neighboring cities for copies
of similar ordinances used by them, and the ordinance was taken
under advisement until this further information 'is received.

ADOPTION OF . QRDINAYCES;
'Ordin'ance o. 397 C.S. introduc'e'd by Councilman Van Bebber,
seconded�by Councilman Ri6wertb, providing fortho leasing to R.W.
Burrows of the shoe factory premises for a term of five years, 'came
up regularly and was adopted by -7 affirmatIve-votes.
NEW BUSINESS:
Labor adjustments D St. bridge.:
Mayor Farrell. appointed Gouncdlman Van Bebber a committee of
one to adjust the labor problem relative to the D Bridge, some
organizations_ having complained that the law regarding the employment.
of local labor is not' bd'I'mg enforced.
Councilman M6 Fadden 'reported that the lights on,East Washington
Street have been n t , overhauled, the globes o he standards' changed to tho&e
.more in-keeping with the rest of the electroli ' er system. Councilman
McFadden suggested that these electroliens a coat of paint by
the street department.

The Superintendent of'Streets reported that the work on the
bulkhead of Thordpdbn Creek near the NicksQn property had,be.en complitted.
Additional work to cost about $65,.00 on the bulkhead near Sixth 'Street
was authorized..
