ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmen Ingerson, McFadden Miller., Riewerts, Schluckebier, Van Bebb and Mayor Farrell. NEW BUSINESS-. Douglas Re-zoning case The Clerk read the minutes of previous meetings pertaining . to the dlspo�sitlon of the, Douglas case and on motion by Councilman Mill seconded by Councilman Riewert the City Attorney was directed to drop the appeal of the case. Motion carried and s.o ordered.. Mr. N. A: Warmoth, business agent of the Central Labor Counci addres C'ouncil stating that certain specifications for the work are not, being lived up to, i.e,., skilled laborers mechanics are being paid as common laborers; overtime has not been paid; and home lab not being employed. White and LaVe;rn Feliz,,. addressed the meeting, statirig that they had 'sa.ti:sfacztori,ly.perfon certain dutipa in connectinn with the concrete, and re-Inforced steel work and claimed that they should.have received the respective. wages of the cone " rete and stee worker, but instead were offered 50�'per hour for Mr. Leibiert,questioned these 'men as t.6 they experience as steel and. concrete workers. and stated that the difficulty seemed to be in the determination of the exact classification of the teirir, common laborer as against that of skilled laborer. - Ha read excerpts of a' le�tter from the Labor "Commission. Inasmuch as some did not wish to present claims fearing that they would jeopardize their chances of future employment,, it, was moved by Gounci. . lman Miller, seconded by McFadden, and carried,,' that a Committee be appointed by the Mayor to i nvestigate, the Contractors to turn over their' time r them and the Committee to work out a satisfactory adjustment,. The Mayor appointed Councilmen- Sxchluckebi.er and Vjn Bebber on this zommittee. Employment of Local Labor: The thi-rd contention that local l'ab.or-, espec ially.that of carpenters, i.s not being used on this Work' was dis Mr. 'Warmoth claiming that competent local carpenters had been unable to get work. while outdiders s-e'emed to - have no difficulty. Mr., Leibert stated that he had.-no ob.je6ti,on to the employment of local labor and. stated that, he would, give local. labor th.e.preference as far as PLOS'Sible.
