CALL Present: Councilman 0eibs,, McFadden, Riwerts, Schluckebier, " Van Bebber Woodson, and, Mayor Farrell, 'READING DF THE ;JOURNAL The mina es of the last regular mee of July 3rd, and 'the 'djourned:meetings of July a 3rd and Zth were read and approved as reaorded. REPORTS' OF STANDING COMMITTEES 'The Fift committe6 -submitted its report.... whereu p on-, Resolution # 4200 C. S,, introduced by Councilman Riewerts,.seconded by Councilman Woodson directing the Auditor to draw warrants against .the various City Funds In payment of - claims -allowed and approved by the Finance Committee adopted by 7 affirmative votes. •Councilman Woodson reported relative to the proposed Sewage disposal system. He conferred With Engineer Kenneddy., now at work at Arcata on a'sewer pro,j and urged ,that a- careful study of the matter be made by the Council before taking a definit action. Councilman R-iewerts rep.orted that the Council had Inspected 'the wharf on Water street, and that it is in a very poor condition,,. and work must bb done soon. City Engineer Gonzale-z was directed to prepare and present plans and --specifications for the pro improvements. Councilman Vah Bebber reported that he had visited the new bridge on Second st-reet, and that it is an excellent structure, PETITIO AND QO�MUNICATIONS Re And 77led numerous communications from the League, of 'Cali Municipalities. p_ Communication from-the Pacifia Building Officer's conference., urging the attendance of the building inspector at the coming c°6nventlon at Monterey. Action will be taken at the next regular meeting. Application from Ivan Hagopian for permission to sell soft drinks at 741 Ave.., read and filed, and Resolution # 4201 G. S introducedby Councilman `McFadden, . seconded by Councilman Deiss,, granting said application, adopted hy 7 votes. M BUSINESS mokersham. Park Tennis Court,. Bids Rejected. Bids for the Tennis Court in Wickersham Park were opened., the bid of the; Vogensen Gons'tructl6n Co, was rejected as it was for the job complete, " including the 'electrical work the specifications and 'Notice to Bidders called for segregation of the electrical bid, from that for court. The Cline , Co bid on the electrical work,, but both bids w6re re,jedted,.. whereupon,, Resolution # 4204 C. S introduced by seconded by Councilman Van.Bobber rejecting al-1 the Tennis Court adopted by 7 affirmative votesi. The Tennis Court was discussed by the Mayor and Councilman and Park Commissioner Steitz,,, and :it was decided to hold a conference of the Park Board and the building and grounds committee in order to agree upon some course to pursue, Discussed completing personnel of the Park Commission in which there is will be ,acted, on at a later meeting.
