REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The monthly reports of the Auditor, Treasurer, Poundman, Wharfinger,.
and Garbage Inspector were read and filed.
The annual report of the Board of Library Trustees was read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavits of Publication of '
Ordinance No. 4 06,. 407, , and .40.8 C .S'. and of Notice to Bidders re Wat
Street Wharf and Washington Street Bridge.
. City Engineer - Gonzalez gave a splendid report. of the Building
Inspectors Convention which he recently attended.

PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:

INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:

Councilman Van Bebber, providing boulevard .stop sign on Fair Street
at its intersection with the southerly line.of 'Western Avenue, was read,,
approved by.the City Attorney, and ordered posted.
ADOPTION OF'_ ORDINANCES

seconded by Councilman [Woodson, amending; the license ordinance- by
providing that ' each solicitor for orders for books, magazines., periodicals,
maps, pictures, picture frames, or for the enlargement of pictures shall
, Pay a license fee of $95.00 per day, came up regularly and was adopted by
7 affirmative votes.
Ordinance No. 407 C,S. introduced by Councilman McFadden, seconded
by.Counci,lman Deiss, amending the license ordinance by providing for

Tax Rate - 1933 -34:

introduced by Cou.ncilman.' Schluckebier, seconded by Councilman
Woodson, fixing the rate of taxes for the fisc - al. year 1933 -34 at
$1.46 for general purposes and bonds, and $1.00`for Acquisition
Districts 1 and 2, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Councilman
Schluckebier, Chairman of' the Finance Committee.,, stated that much
thought had been given to the fixing of the rate and that it was
not possible to reduce it without cutting out some of the activities
of the city. ,
Transfer of money:

Stanley 'St. care of storm water:
Chairman Van Bebber• reported that a contract had been entered
into with J. B. Silva for a drain sewer at Baker and Staneey Streets
to take care of the flood water in that vicinity.
Mayor Farrell called. attention of Council to the meet -
ing of the North Bay Leag - de of Municipalities to be held at Clover
date on Sdptember.13th, and that all attend the meeting'.
Mr. W. t. Rutherford was present and addressed the.Council,
stating that the , work of strengthening the levee on.his property
should be undertaken now -while weather conditions are favorable.
City Engineer Gonzalez :reported having prepared plans, and he
was directed to start the work by the next. week..

City Attorney Cromwell reported having made arrangements
with the owner of the property on Bridge'Street to give a deed
to City for street pu.r-poses, on condition that the city "set back
.the fence which he recently erected along the edge of the paved
portion of the street. The Street Superintendent was authorized
to: perform the work when 'the deed had been to the City.
Repairs to Washington 8t. LBridge - open of bids:
This 'being the time ,set -for opening bids for the removal and
restoration of woodwork,, repainting of bridge- rai ling, cleaning
and.painting of steel work and rebuilding in general of all parts
of the Washington Street - Budge the Clerk reported 'having received
four bids and proceeded to open and read said bids as follows:

Water Wharf opening of bids
This being the time set for 'opening bids for the construction
of the reinforcement of the present wharf on Water Street, the Clerk
reported having received seven bids, and proceeded to open and read_
said bids as follows.: r

Mr. Lauritzen stated I that �th6ir of $2608.62 was f'or the exact number
of pi as shown in the - plans and. spectfications. He also stated that
they would buy as much 'lumber as pobsible*from local dealers.
Councilman Schluckebier reported that the Board of Fire Commission
had added one more full time fireman to its payroll.
