PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Communication from the manager of the Petaluma Minstrels requesting
financial support it the sum of $26 per i9onth for nine or ten months
was read,, filed,,, and referred to committee composed of Councilmen Riewerts,
Delss...and McFadden for report.
A communication from the Division of Highways addressed to the
City Attorney regarding the jurisdiction of highway routes through Petaluma
,read and ftled° Later brought up under the head of New Bi2siness and the
City Engineer was directed to prepare plans.,, specifications., and estimates
for the permanent improvement of the - block , on Third Street,, between C. and
D. Streets

appointing W. McDonald and Walter Dado -asregular officers of the Police
Department, and H. Bradbury as a Special Officer of the Police Department,,
, adopted by 7 affirmative vot6s.
Resolution #4240 C,.S.
introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Schluckebier
directing the Auditor and,Treasurer to transfer the sum of $2669 from
the General Fund to the Unemployment Relief Fund and the sun of $3500'00
from the:StreetFund to the Unemployment Relief adopt'ed,by 7
affirmative votes.
Brakes - Washington St. Bridge:
Councilman Van obber brought up the matter of providing brakes
for the Washington St g 0 . r Bridge. He was authorized to expend the sum of
$25.00 in an endeavor to ascertain the most satisfactory
to be used,
Councilman McFadden suggested that while the , C.W.A.workers are
repairing the.- sidewalks the remaining cobblestone driveways should also
be replaced bye driveways, the cobblestones being very dangerdus
to wallk on.
-City Atto,rne7 Cromwell reported having completed.th6 legal data
required to be filed with the application for federal aid'for.the sewage
project. The matter of said app'licati6nwas di it being the
consensus of opinion that application. should be 'made for the loan
whereupon

Admini strati on of the U-. S. Government for the approval of the praject;,
and for a grant of Z0% of the cost thereof, and for the subscription
by said Public Works Admini s t•rati o`n. ' of the bonds of the City of
Petaluma in an amount sufficient to defray the cost and expense of said
sewage treatment and disposal system in excess of the amount of-said
grant., adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Secretary Dolph :Young of the Chambe of Commerce was present
and thanked the Council, on behalf of the merchants, for the adoption
of the itinerant merchant ordinance Which.ha,s proved -most valuable
h protecting local merchants.., - especially during the holiday trade.
Mr. Young' spoke of the need for greater police protection for
the downtown distirict,, which matter was discussed -, Chi.ef 'Peters
statingthat his force is inadequate and that.he needs an additional
police officer. N action taken.
