Special meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma held
on the above date in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
Councilman Woodson moved,, and Gouncilman Deiss seconded that
Councilman McFadden preade over the meeting as Chairman,, which,moton
was put by the Clerk and unanimously carried and so ordered.

Present: Councilmen Deiss, McFadden, McNear, Penry, and Woodson:.
The Clerk read the: call for,meet ng which stated that the7
meeting was for the purpose of; first, to appoint a Councilman to fill
the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilman C. M. Riewerts
secorid,, to appoint a Mayor to fill the vacancy created by the resignation
of Wm,. J:. Farrell, and, third, to appoint a Councilman to fi l any vacancy
create:d.,by the appointment of one of the Councilmen as Mayor, in the
event. that one of. the Councilmen. is appointed as Mayor and his- resignation
as Councilman given, by reason of such appointment.
The first item of business_ was taken up and
Resolution #4249 C.S.
introduced, by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Penry,, appointing
Brainerd, Jones as Councilman to fill the vacancy created by the resignation
of Co M. Riewerts, adopted by .5 affirmative votes. Following the
adoption of said resolution Brainerd Jones w as sworn in as Councilman
of the City of Petaluma and took his.char as such Councilman.
The second item of business was "taken up, Councilman Woodson
stating that because of Councilman ?McFadden's experience as,a Councilman
of the City of Petaluma and because of his fittnes,s and capabilities
for the office he believed that he should be .appointed Mayor of the City
of Petaluma.
Councilman. McFadden addressed. the Council. stating that he
considered the wellfare of the City more important than having the office:
of Mayor and that the members of the Council should choose the man best
qualified to the office and that he did not wish to accept the office
if the members felt they could work better with someone else.
It being the unanimous opinion that Councilman McFadden be
appointed Mayor,

Sandy McFadden as o:f the City of Petaluma unanimously adopted,
whereupon Sandy McFadden was -sworn in as Mayor of the City of Petaluma
and took his chair. as such Mayor.
The resignation gf Mr. McFadden as Councilman was read and filed
and _'by Res °olution #4251.C.S was accepted by 6 affirmative votes.
The third item of business was presented, the Clerk reading the
application of Geo,, S. Griffin for Councilman. The names of Americo
Gervasoni and Paul Heney for Councilmen were 'also discussed..

Americo Gervasoni as Councilman of -the City of Petaluma to fill the
vacancy created by the resignation of Sandy McFadden, adopted by 6
affirmative votes,.
Mayor McFadden expressed his appreciation of the honor tberstowed
on him by his appointment to the office of .Mayor.
ADJOURNM

carried the eeting adjourned.

Garbage Collection:
Mr.. Jack Bone ad'dres'sed the Council asking that the -petitipp
and affidavits recently filed by him in the matter of 'the collection 'of
garbage,., be re- considered and asked that the Mayor,refer the matter to-

a committee and the Cit Attorney. Mayor McFadden assured him that
as soon as the C;oiancil is completely organized, that is, as soon as
the standing committees have been appointed, the matter will be given
their earnest consideration.
The request for financial assistance in making up the deficit
of $_6,0.00 incurred by the local service clubs . in, sponsoringi the:�Markham
function..was reported by Cbuncilman Woodson and laid on the table until
the new Finance Committee shall have been appointed.
