Special meeting of the Council of the Ci.ty. of "Petaluma cal_ led,

The Clerk read the MAyorts call for which stated that
the meeting was for the following purposes, i.:e., the announcement
by the Mayqr of the, various committees af the, Council�; the 'hearing' of.
remarks by Mr. Maxwell., a representative of the Pacific Greyhound
Stage 'Lines; and 'the dis of the request of the ;3part for the
use of the Exhibition, Building in Kenilworth Park.
Standing Committees;
Mayor McFadden announced the following stgndIng,committees of
the Council, which committees were approved ah(laccepte by the members,
of the Council:.

PUBLIC BUILDINGS. & GROUNDS: Jones., Chairman; Gervas.onl, Deices.
Spartans Request for Exhibition Bldg. at Kenilworth;
The request of the Spartans Club f or the use of the exhibition
building : at Kenilworth Park was read and discussed,, Gourici.lman Woodson
stating that • he understood that the building was now used only for the
storage of wood and as an indoor target range for the police and traffic
officers., Mr. Young Secretary of the Chamber of Gommerce, was present
and stated that inasmuch as the builghad been eracted, by the Chamber
of Commerce� that or had a moral Interest in it; that they
favored the, proposition of the Spartans provided that said organization
would vacate the building should the 'Chamber of. Commerce desire same
for fair purposes. The Clerk called attention to the fact that the
insurance on said building is s carried by the City arid' this is costL
might 'be taken care of by the Spartans. The request was referred to
the Buildings and Grounds, Cornmittee the City. Attorney, and'the .Chamber
of Commerce4
Airport:
Chairman irman Robert McClain of the special airport committee of' the
'Ameri,can. Legion addr6'ssed the Council explaining the possibility- of
obtaining f rom $5;., 000 to $25, 000 f rom the Government f or the imprbve-
ment or building, of amunicipal airport. such propos Ition being in the
nature of a, C. W. A. 'project, 75% °of the money appropriated to be
spent for labor and 25,% for materials, it be=ing 'necessary, however:.,
to lease with an option to buy. sufficient land as' a basis f or th.6 grant.
Irving, Rohner representing C. W. A, urged prompt action In, order -that
this project , may be secured for local employment:, Mr. Wm. Thomas,
representing the McNear Cordpany, also addressed the C . oinicil on this
-;&ub�Ject, expressing hi-s- wish to work with the committee The matter
not being included in the call, f or the tneeting no action was taken but
Mayor .McFadden stated he would appoint a committee promptly to work
with the committees from the Chamber of Connerce and American. Legion.

taken Whereby Pacific Greyhound Lines were denied the privilege of
loading and unloading passengers on Kentudky :Street at 'the Continental
Hotel. The matter Was - referred to the Street Committee and City
Attorney for,inve'stigation and report back.
