reported having interviewed representatives of the Spartans Club regarding

City Attorney Brooks presented and read his opinion regarding the.
request of the Pacific Greyhound Stages, : for a-, temporary permit to
use the ,west side of Kentucky. .Street in front of the Continental Hotel
as h :bus stop,., raferring to the law governing the regil-lation of parking
vehicles and pointihg - that the subject of bus stops is covered by
Subdiv.lsi B of Sec: 30. of 'the. Ttaff ic. Ordinance and provides that bus
st be designated -by appropriate signs at those plaeds determined
by the Chief of Police and further pointing out: that, the Council M47 1 -

Levee St. - application for portable derrick;
The request of E. Paulson to install, a portable derridk on Levee
Street for use in unloadingzhell:s.which request had been referred to the
City Attorney f or an opinion, was reported by Mayor McFadden. The City
Attorney read his opinion. which stated that he could see no legal

objection togranting such 'a permit but, ,advised that persons
accustomed to using said street be "firs - , consulted, The matter
was referred to the Street Committee for Investigation.

Rejection of questionable claim s:
- City Attorney Brooks read his opinion regarding, the validity
of certain claims, advising that the C'Ity Council
should be governed
'by the literal inter retation' of the Charter provision and,, accordingi

should disallow all of the claims mentioned, 'further advising that the
claimants should have the burden of securing a Court ruling on the

of the City of Petaluma%.

Mayor McFadden appointed Dr. C. T. Veoricamp and Otiar 0. Cobb

Councilman. Penr7 was appointed to work `with the City Attorney
and City Engineer toward the drafting of a new zoning .ordinance.
Referred to the BuIldings and Grounds Committee the request of

posting ordinance.

Garbage Contract:
Mr. Percy Fuller addressed the Council on his previous request
for action regarding the cancellation of the garbage c,o or" a
contract. The 'City Attorney stated that he haA been studying: the
case but due to the seriousness of it and, his occupation with••
other matters which required hia immediate attention, Ye `was' not
yet ready to report on it.
.Mayor McFadden, appointed 'the Public Works Committee "to act With
the Airport Committees from the Chamber of Commerce and the Ame rican
Legion regarding the proposition; of o btaining.. federal aid for-th6- -
Improvement 'of a municipal airport.
