READI OF' THE JOURNAL: The minutes o. the last regular meeting of March 5th and the ,Special Meeting of Marsh :8th were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF STANDING COMIJIITTEES e Finance Committee submitted its report.,, whereupon Resolution #4268 C. S. introduced by .Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Gervason.i: -, directing the Auditor to draw warrants ((Nos., 1848 to 1924 inc:. )' against the various city - funds in payment of.cla -ims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS AND COMMUNIC!ATI'ONS:: Pet t on s gne by' 114 citizens endorsing the application of T. C. Vestal for the position of Police Judge in the event of a vacancy in said office, read and filed. INTRODUCTION. OF ORDINANCES: Ord_narice NO. C.,S. introduced by Councilman McNear, seconded by Councilman Deiss, providing for the purchase by the City of A new 1934 Model, 'Four -door sedan automobile, for use 'by the Police Department, at a price to exceed $1000.00, directing that. the Clerk advertise for bids, and appropriating a sum not to exceed $1000,.X0 to pay for -s'aid automobile, was re ad,, approved. by the City Attorney, and ' ordered posted,. Ordinance No. 416 C. S,, introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman. Jones, providing for the installation of a.. sprinkler system in the Hill Plaza Park, and approving and adopting the plans and specifications for said work,, was read, approved by the City Attorney, and ordered posted. ' introduc:ed by Councilman Jones seconded by .Councilman Gervas'oni, authorizing the lease by the City of the westerly portion .of. the Fair or Exhibition Building at Kenilworth Park in the City of Petaluma, County of Sonoma, State of California, to the Petaluma Spartans Amateur Athletic Club, for the period of three years from the date this ordinance shall go into effect, came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Ordinance No. 414 C. S introduced by Councilman De .ss, seconded, by Councalman Mc Near; providing for the construction of a re- inforced concrete wall on the west side. of Petaluma River, immed- iately north of Washington Street Bridge, came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes. NEW BU SINESS-: Bi ds for material f.or bulkhead: This being the time ,set for opening bids; for furnishing material required in. the work of constructing 'the. reinforced concrete wall on the west side of Petaluma River immediately north of Washing- ton Street, the Clerk reported having received 12 bids and proceeded to open anal read said bids whereupon Resolution #4269, G. S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded, by Councilman Penry accepting, the bid of M. Vonsen , Co. to furnish the cement for work authorized by Ordinance No. 414 C. S. said company being the lowest responsible bidder for said material, adopted by 7' affirmative votes, and Resolution #4270 C.Z. introduced by Councilman McNear, seconded by Councilman De accepting the bid -of Sylva & Ellis to furnish coarse aggregate:, sand, and reinforcing steel at the prices named 1n their bid., they being the lowest responsible bidder for said materials, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. 1 QI1� EN Music Clomm:sson appointees Mayor McFadden appointed Dr.. H'. P. Peck, and Mr. 0. 0. Cobb as members of the Music Commission. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: he" uldintgs and Grounds Committee were granted further time in which to report on the repairs of the Town Clock. Grace Studdert claim Attorney Brooks reported having communicated' an compromise on the claim of Greece Stud`dert for damages, but to date had received no response from said offer. Brakes Washington St.. bridge: Councilman Deiss reported - that brakes had been installed on the Washington Street Bridge by Herrman Weber and were very satisfactory and,the Price of the work very reasonable. r. Uniform Billboard Ordnaric e: The Uniform Bill Board Ordinance as presented by the firm of Foster & Kleiser was passed back to the= C :ounci`l�withou.t recommendation by the ,Building and Grounds Committee. The report. of the Committee was accepted and no further action taken. Bus stop for stages: Councilman McNe.ar was asked to tell-of his interview with the representative of the Pacific Greyhound Stage. Lines, and stated that hehad secured a prIce of $25...00 per month for the office building and grounds. or $10.:00 per month for the use of the grounds only at the old stage depot Fourth and A St.ree -ts and that he had communicated these offers to Mr. Maxwell but thatas far as.he knew the offers,'had not been accept°ed.. It was the consensus of opinion that the.matter be closed as far as any further consideration by the Council was concerned. Resolution x}4271 C.S. 'introduced by Counci "lman McNear, seconded'by Councilman Deiss, directing the. Clerk to advertise for sealed proposals for the ,sale of the f our- _. door sedan automobile referred to in Ordinance No. 4'15 C.S. adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Resolution #4272 C.S. introduced by - Councilman 'Woodson, seconded by Counci Jones, directing the Clerk to advertise for :materials and supplies neees;sary in the work of install'irig a sprinkler system in the ,Hill Plaza Park, adopted by' 7 affirmative votes. Opinion as to donations: City Attorney Brooks read his opinion regarding proposed appropriations to cover donations to certain organizations. Filed. Councilman Woodson reported that the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce will be very glad to work with the Planning Comnissi.on at any time said commission is organized. Councilman Deiss reported that the work on the bulkhead is proceeding commented on the valuab e.assistance being given by Mr. Isaacs. Mayor McFadden expressed his appreciation of the, large volume of'wor-k done by the City Attorney and also of the assistance and co- operation of the Councilmen.
