Councilman Jones reported having interviewed Chief. Peters
regarding the change in.-schedule of the officers so as to provide a
policeman. on :duty at the jail at all hours. Councilman Jones
stated that during the vacation period when the department is under-
maned that such an arrangement is impossible but that as soon. -as
vacation is over there will be.a man on duty at all hours. I
decided to work under the present schedule until after the - vacation
period, with the proviso that during the few hours when - there , is no
officer in the jail that the :policeman on duty 'visit the jail every
20 or '30 minutes.

Official Advertising:
This being the, time s.et for opening bids for official
advertising the Clerk reported having received one bid, whereupon
Resolution #4303 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Gervasoni,'' seconded by Councilma:n.Deiss,
accepting the. bid of the Petaluma Argus- Courier for the fiscal
year. ending June SO, 1935, adopted by 6 affirmative votes,, 1 absentee.

Mayor McFadden reported numerous projects. for work under
Grant of PWA 325,000.00 for sewage .project:
The granting of the application, of the City of Petaluma
for $325,000.00 for a sewage disposal system was,reported.: In
this connection Mr. J, B. Piatt addressed. 'the Council, outlining
the necessary preliminary steps, and stating that he is willing to
undertake the work for a total cost of x'230,000.00, including

engineering -fees. He also stated that in the event that bonds failed
to carry that there would be no charge against the city for his work..
A discussion was had regarding the employment .of Mr. Piatt but no action
was taken. The entire matter was referred to the Board of Public Works
and the City Attorney for an investigation of the report of Nishkian and
Hyde ;, especially as '•t'o the estimates of cost of the systems reported on
and the amount required-for a bond issue.
Town Clock:
The plans and. specifications for the removal of the town clock
were referred to the..,Building.& Grounds Committee and City Attorney for
examination. The City Attorney was directed to m epare the necessary
ordinance and notices calling for bids for' this work.
The matter of securing deeds for rights of way on the prop'os,ed
extension. of 6th Street wa °s laid over until the next meeting.
The City Attorney reported that the incidental expenses of
the Freeholders are legitimate charges against the.City funds.
Levee Street Bin,:
Mr. E.... Paulson was informally granted, permission to proceed with
the work of erecting . a shell bin on Levee Street, the aforesaid action
to b.e ratified at the next meeting of the Council.
Planning Commission:
It was decided that no action.be taken regarding the adoption
of a. City Planning or Zoning Ordinance pending the action of the
Freeholders, who are considering inluding section in the Charter
to provide for a Planning Commission.
