RE PORTS OF OFFICERS: Hoppe-r $t�mprovement City Attorney Brooks reported having received= a communication from the Northwestern Pacific R. R -. Co. to the effect that said company would proceed at once to improve that portion of Hopper Street, north of Washington Street, between the main and side tracks. The Superintendent of Streets reported that the work has already b'e'en satisfactorily completed by the Railway Company. REPO RTS OF STANDLNG COMMTTTEES: The Finance Committee submitted its r."eport, whereupon Resolution #4305 C. S. ,introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Gervasoni, directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 171 to 235.inclusive') against the various city funds in payment, of claims allowed-and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by , 6 affirmative votes, , l .absentee. PETITIONS' & COMMUNICATIONS: f' Cherry Valley Sewer strict Communication from the Board of Health stating that the report and sVrvey of. the Cherry Valley sewer district had been. carefully s tud :ed -and as it will serve 15 homes and relieve a - nuisance, and menace to health., the.Board unanimously requested that said sewer be ordered as one of the pro jec °ts of the city .for the coming•;year. Filed; and referred to the City Engineer, City Attorney, and-Street Department. Fish & Game Division - re sewage in Petaluma River.: Letter from the Division of Fish and Game comp- laining 'of the polluted condition of the Petaluma Creek and reque.s't•ng that plans be , initiated and completed to remedy the: situation by. providing an adequate sewage disposal system, read• and- f. led. Town Clock Removal, etc. Ordinance No. 421 C. S. introduced by Councilman Penry ~.seconded by , Councilman Jones, providing for the removal—of the clock.and tower situated on the top of the northeast corner of the Masonic Hall Association Building in this city; for the repairs made neeessar-y by s ich removal for the repaa=stering., relath-ing and repainting of .the social hall in said building under said tower, read, approved by the City Attorney, and ordered posted. Election Ordinance - for Sewage bonds: Ordinance No. 422 C. S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, by Councilman Penry, ordering the submission of the proposition of incurring a bonded debt in the sum of $3,25,000.00 by said: city; ".for the purpose of paying the cost and expense of certain public improvement in and for said city, to -wit: The..acqusiti.on, construction and complet- ion of a sewer and sewage disposal system, including pipes, disposal plant, pumps, pumping plant, machinery, equipment, land, easements and other works, property and appliances necessary or convenient to make a complete sewer and sewage disposal. system for said city, to the G qualified. -voters of said city at a, special election called for that pu:rpos ;e and ordered. to be held an the '28th day of August, 1934. was read, approved by the City Attorney, and ordered published according to law. NEW BU SINESS: ___TT the request of Attorney Soldati, the City Clerk was directed to extend the invitation of the Mayor and Councl.l. to the Y. L. 'I. ',and Y. M. I. organ:izat'i.ons to hold their next convention. in Petaluma's Approval of bond of J. Hall Lewis Resolution *#4306 C. S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Jones, approving the bond, of -J . Hall. • Lewis, and directing the Clerk to record-And file the same, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, I-absentee. . 4> Mayor McFadden reporte.d that the Street Department had purchased and stored.several drums of gasoline in case of emergency during the present strike. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: St. Bridge approaches: The C reported havi -ng taken readings of the sinking of the approaches to the D Br dge and that he would continue 'Said readings. He 'was directed to complete his investigation And report his. recommendations as to the best means of remedying the ` condition. to the Clerk., in order that the proper project statement may be sent to the Division of Highways. .The committee investigating the request of Win. Sylva for the r.ep.lacement of wooden curbs on Upham. Street was granted further time., Town Clock: , Res olution x#4307 G.S., introduced. by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Jones, directing the City Clerk.to advertise for bids for the removal of the clock and tower situated on the top of the Northeast- corner of the Mason.c:Hall; As- sociation Building on the corner of Western .Avenue and'Ma_it Street; for the replastering relathing and'repainting of the social hall in said building under said tower;, and for the repairs made necessary by such °removal °adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Frogr,ess was reported in the matter of securing deeds for the extension of Sixth Street. The City Attorney reported . that there i.s ample time for � adoption of the election ord;i;nance without- adjourning the present meeting as had been previously suggested by him. He also reported having consulted'Mr. Harrington of the firm of'Orrick, Palmer & Dalquist, specialists i,n municipal bond p:roceedin:gs and that the .election ordinance introduced at this meeting would 'be ,sent to -them for approval. This step was taken because it-is stated in the application made to the P.,W. A. that said firm of Orrick, Palmer & Dalquist would ultimately furnish an opinion as to - the validity of the issue. Councilman Afoodson_ asked that the City Attorney secure an estimate of the cost of said legal service.
