read and approved as recorded.,.
REPOR OF OFFI

the Board of Freeholders.
REPORTS -OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #4339 C.S..
introduced by Councilman Woodson, sceconded. by Councilman Gerv.asoni,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 1082 to 1155 - inclusive)
against the various 'City Funds in payment of claims allowed and
approved by the Finance Committee, adopted. by 7 affirmative votes.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Letter from the National Engineering Company regarding the
designing., constructing, and. of revenue producing municipal.
utilities, read, filed and .referred to the Board of Public ,Works .
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
Ordinance No., 42'5 C.S.. introduced 'by C'ounci.lman Perry, second-
ed by C.ou.nci] man Dess,, calling a. special municipal election in the
City of Petaluma for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
electors of this-city a Charter prepared and proposed for the City of
Petaluma by the Board of Freeholders elected May 15., 1934, was read,
approved by the City Attorney, and ordered published.
NEW BUSI
A�r�equest of Mr. 'Painter, proprietor of the service station
at 349 Main Street, for permission, to remove a small section. of curb
in front .of hi:s premises, was referred to the. Street Committee with
power to act.
UNFIN ISHED BUSINESS:
-- ffe = graveling of Linda.Vista Subdivision streets:
The Street Committee reported that the City .Attorney had
approved the request of the property owners in Linda Vista Subdivisi
for the replacement of gravel removed by the City under the
pro ject of` -grading sa streets. The Superintendent of Streets
reported the work already undertaken and that he expected it to be
finished in a few days.
The matter of advertising the traffic motorcycle for sale was
laid on the table., it being decided to include in said auction sale
other city property now useless to the city.
Sixth Street Deeds.:
Mayor.. iMcFadden reported on the meeting of members of the City
Council with Attorney Crawford and Miss Goodman, who were. represent
ing Mrs Goodman:. 'He stated that another meeting with Attorney
Crawford would be held on next Sunday and that Mrs. Goodman was anxious
to assist the city in this matter but that she fears the opening of
this street will mean assessments for street improvement which she
cannot undertake at this time.
Cherry Valley Sewer:
City Engineer Gonzalez reported on the matter of the Cherry
Valley serer stating that theinterested propert owners are willing
to proceed with the work but do not wish to assume the financi &l
obliga.tion.for it. `Inasmuch as the sanitary conditions at this
location present a menace to public health it was decided to refer
the matter to the Health Officer for definite action.. Mayor
McFadden was delegated to consult Dr. Rogers about th mat

f Streets Glahn reported. that the material
and'Fair Streets had arrived and will be
Winery Sewer:
City Engineer Gonzalez filed a written report on the condition
of the Old Winery Sewer. It was further reported that the City Attorney
had written to the McN.ear Company for permission to use the sewer. A
long discussion was had regarding the unpleasant odors from the Biltmore
Plant. and the need of eliminating same.
Use of gaso;lirie, tax funds:
Mayor McFadden reported on the meeting of members of the City
Council with`Mr. J. F. RTelsbn, representative of the Division of Highways.
A'discussion:followed regarding the use of the $9,450.00 accruing to
the credit of Petaluma. It was unanimously agreed that the Council
should immediately provide for three lanes of traffic along Main and Third
Streets,, which will be accomplished by providing for parallel parking
on said streets; and'work toward the plan of providing for four lanes
of traffic from city limits: to city limits by setting back the sidewalks
and curbs for a distance great enough to provide for said four lanes
of traffic.. The next question discussed was the adviseability of using
the entire $9,:450.00 for commencing the work of setting back the curbs
and sidewalks or for using about.$4500.00 of it to permanently improve
the block on Third Street, between C`and:D Streets. The. opinion
of each Councilman was.obtained and it was finally decided that the first
step ' to be undertaken was,' the widening of Main and Third Street, beginning,
said work the most congested area., i.e., from the gore at - the
intersection of Main. &'*Third Streets to the intersection of Main and
Washington Streets..
The City Attorney was directed to prepare an ordinance for
introduction at the next meeting of the Council to provide for parallel
parking from city limits to city limits on Main and Third Streets.
Dynamite permits:
Councilman McNear brought up the present unsatisfactory method
of granting permit's for the use of dynamite and "suggested that when the•
Clerk issues applications therefor that before presenting same to the
Mayor and Council that they be approved either by the Superintendent of
Streets or the City Engineer. Mayor McFadden suggested that the present
ordinance covering these permits be amended'to provide for such approval.
Councilman Jones reported the purchase of.new heaters for the
Police Department and the Fire Department.

There being no further business on motion made by Councilman
McNear, seconded by Councilman V16odson, the meeting adjourned.
