Absent Councilman MdWear. READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes of the last regular meeting of January 7th and the special meeting of January 15th Were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF' STANDING COMMITTEES: � The finance Committee' submitted t:ted its re'pbrt.., thereupon Resolution #4352 C.S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by C'ounci lman Gervasoni,. directing the Auditor *to draw illTarrants ('Nos. 1477 to 160.8 inclusive) against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes,, 1 absentee,. Mayor McFadden reported that this matter had already been taken care of by the Street Department. Not;c.e from the President of the North Bay League of the meeting to be held at Ukiah on January 26th., read and filed. `Mayor`'McFadden urged the attendance of all of the city officials at this meeting. ,Leiter from G. Bassett S'tre:ets, by the eliin'ination of the dangerous angular turn in front of the High Schmol, as a. State Emergency Relief- Administ.rati,ox project; providing for trie purchase of property required for said improve- ment approving the plans and specifications prepared`by. the City Engineer and author' zing .th°e, purchase of all materials mentioned therein, came up regularly and. was adopted by 6 affi- rmative votes, 1 absentee. Re: Machine guns and auto for Police Dept: In line with the' letter from G. W. MacKenzie asking that the ,police department be furnished with more equipment for fighting•gdngsters, Chief :Peters addressed the Council, stating that the department was great in need of a• new- automobile, and that the_ same should be, equipped withullet proof windshield and facilities for a machine gun. - The matter was referred to the Finance Gommit•tee with power to act-to work with the Chief of Police. 'It was the consensus of opinion of `the Council that the matter be g� iven immediate attention. Repairs to Street Bridge; .Mayor McFadden reported that some d'fficulty was being encountered with:• +the electrical equipment of the D Street Bridge.; that one -of the electric motors, had, grounded during the heavy rains and that it ' been necessary to send for Mr. Plass to repair the same. Mayor - McFadden appointed Councilman Jones a Spe,dial Committee fo� supervise the main- tenance of the electrical work on the D Street Bridge. A. suggestion. that 'a, 'local electrician be selected: as special electrician for -.the . bridge, he to study° the equipment under Mr. Pla;ss,was brought up by Mayor McFadden. The matter of selecting: such an electricia.n- was referred to ° the Street Committee and St-reet Superintendent. Town Clock $700 paid to Petaluma Masonic Hall As,soci;ation! The City Engineer filed his certificate of completion of work: provided to be done, under teat certain agreement, dated September 21, 1934, between the City of Petaluma, ;and the Petaluma Masonic Hall As . whereupon Resolution #4355 C.S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Ge_rvasoni, authorizing the Clerk to. draw a warrant In the sum of $7001.00 payable to the said Petaluma Masonic Hall Asrs`o'clation, according to the pro�- vi of .Ordinance No. 424 C.S,, adopted by 6 affirmative° votes, 1 ab.s'entee. City Attorney Brooks reported that the deeds on the Fair Street widening were prepared and ready for the signature of the Mayor. Mayor MicFadden, reported that arrangements had been made for the ,purchase of gasoliner for the City of Petaluma at the rate of 14,E per gallon for the' next 14 months. Councilman Penry reported that the S=treet Committee had granted permission for the installation of a historical marker at the corner' o f Main and Washington Streets. Councilman Deiss spoke of the need of caring for the storm water. on Mt. View Avenue. 'Mayor McFadden stated that this work was being pr as a project for the summer. - The C ity Attorney submitted the specifications as prepared by the City Engineer for the widening of Main 'S'treet, different provisions of the sp:eci;fications b`e'ing reviewed and approved by the. City Council. OHD The matter of asking for bids for the repair o:f Main and Third Streets was also discussed - it being decided to base the bids on yardage or footage bas,is:.
