READING OF THE JOURNAL: The' minutes of the. last regular meeting; of February 18th were .read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: The leek and Auditor reported the apportionment of ,x;3,546.01 from the Unapportioned Fund to the various funds entitled thereto. The monthly reports of the Pound.man,- City 'Wharfinger, Police Judge,, Garbage-Inspector, Audit and Treasurer, were read and filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES: T he, Pinan,ce Committee submit ed its report, whereupon Resolution #4366 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded by Councilman Woodson., direct- ing the Audi -tor to draw warrants (Nos. 185.3 to 1983 inclusive) against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: Application of art n IA Vyenielo for position. of Policeman, read and filed. Notice of Hearing before the Railroad Commission in the matter of the ap.pli,cation of the Northwestern Pacific 'Railroad Co. and Pacific Greyhound Lines, Inc. for approval of an agreement for pooling their local' passenger transportation services between San Francisco and Ukiah, read and filed. Letter from L. H. Nishkian relative to the rack gears on the D Street Bascule Bridge, read and filed.F - A communication from the California Highway Legislative Committee asking support in the oppos- iti.on of any bills which may be introduced into the Legislature calling; for the diversion of the gas tax, read and filed. Referred to the City Attorney. Bulletin from the League of California. Municipalities regarding federal relief legislation read and filed. Communication from the Division of Highways asking.that arrangements be made with the California State Automobile Association for the erection of certain signs needed . on Route 104, read and filed., and the matter referred . to, the,Street Committee. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES: Ordinance No: 427 C.S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman De.iss, authorizing the purchase of one new Thompson Forty- five caliber sub - machine ;gun, model No. 21, equipped with 4 complete clips with. 20 cartr -dge capacity each, and appropriating the sum of not to exceed $242.00 therefore, came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes. NEW BUSINESS: Trans er of funds: Resolution #4367.C.S. introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Gervasoni, directing the Auditor and Treasurer to transfer the sum of ;33.67 from the Washington Street Improvement Bond Fund to the General Fund, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Mayor McFadden reported: on the recent meeting of the League of Calif - ornia:tunicipalities held in San Francisco March lst. Appointing Albert M . Overton t ' a as si s ' C i ty Treasurer: Res;oluti.on #4368 C.-S introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Gervasoni, authorizing and empowering the City Treasurer to assist him in keeping;and preparing the accounts, records, statements and re to be kept 518 prepared and filed by the City Treasurer of this city; said 'employment not to include and said employee shall not have any right,: power or authority to receive, disburse, handle, possess, withdraw or otherwise exercise any control whatsoever over tie funds, securities, or other property owned, held, possessed or controlled by this city or said City Treasurer; and providing; for a salary of $20.00 per month for services rendered by said employee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. UNFINL.SHED BUSINESS: Recommendation of Finance Committee re appropriation for Music Comm: The Finance Committee reported that due to the fact that the City Funds are extremely low and. the'General Fund in particular will be exhausted in a short time.,, the committee could not recommend an appropriation to the Music Commission, whereupon Resolution #4369 C.S. introdu -ced by Councilman Gervasoni,'seconded by Councilman McNear, reso].vin that no funds be appropriated by the City for-the. expenses of the Music Commission from and after April 1, 1935, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 negative vote. City-Attorney Brooks reported that a complaint had•'been served on the Superintendent of Streets in, the Grace Studdert . claim, and, that he had taken the matter under advisement. Councilman Woodson reported that the Finance Committee. expect to have a meeting this week regarding the matter of the collection of city taxe yin two installments. Linotti claims: Resolution #4370 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded by Councilman McNear,, resolving that the city compromise the claim3 for damages and i "Mjuries alleged to have been suffered by Laurie Linotti and Frank Edward Linotti, for the sum. of' $2.5.0.0 each. and directing. the Clerk to draw and deliver warrants to said Laurie Linotti and -Frank Edward for the sum of $25.00 each, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.-_ The Street Committee recommended the appointment of Joe Cline as, electrician for , the D Street'Bridge, which recommendation was approved by the - City Council, said electrician to be compensated for work .performed and not.on a salary basis. Councilman Woodson reported having investigated the application of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company for a permit to erect a bulkhead on the North side, of Petaluma River, and. that said. bulkhead would be constructed according to Government' regulation s anal. would,n fact; be a protection to the D Street Bridge. City Attorney 'Brooks reported that the plans and specifications for the widening of Main Street had. been reviewed by the Street Committee and forwarded to the Division of Highway for approval , The Cherry Valley Sewer project. `ws;s taken under advisement. .The 'matter of drafting, new 'o:rdin.anc.es pertaining to peddling, itinerate merchants, etc. was discussed, the City Attorney stating.that he was waiting the outcome of the investigation of the Chamber of Commerce before drafting an ordinance.
