Adjourned meeting- of the Council of the City; of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor McFadden.
ROLL C ALL::
present: Councilmen Delss Gerv,asoni,, Jones, McNear, Penry, Woodson.,
and Mayor McFadden.
Re - bid on conduit and wire:
City Attorney Brooks reported having, telephoned the Crescent Electric
C:ompan'y and that- they-had advised him that they-had in their own stock
sufficient electrical conduit and sufficient copper wire to fill the
requirements and that they could make delivery practically upon receipt of
orders and that their bid on copper wire covered the Hazard Br-and., He
advsed`tha't the Crescent Electric Company would, therefore, be.entitled
to the contract for the conduit and Wire.
Re bid on cement-
The City Attorney also reported that representatives of the M.
Vons Company had advised that they had made,a mistake in preparing their,
bid and desired, if necessary, to have, their bid withdrawn. In. consulting,
other bidders on cement it developed that sorrm'e of them had also erred in,
their figures and therefore they would •not •object to the awardi -ng of the
contract .to ; 1A. Vonsen Company. Mr. Hein also expressed himself a`s being
agreeable to the awarding of - the contract to M Vonsen Company.
Re - fine aggregate:
State `Engineer Wildirian. advised that he had, received word from' the
Division- of Highways that the -sand offered by M. J.. Mol -seed had never ,been
subjected to the te made by the State 'Materials Testing and Research
Laboratory and that it would' take approximately 28 days for such a test
to be A telephone call to Abbott Hanks Co. of Berkeley, revealed
that a search of their records to the early part of 1,934 showed that no
test of the materi -al had been made there;..
It was the consensus of opinion that the contract for the -coarse
and fine aggregate be awa"rd'ed to the next lowest bider and, that the State
Engineer - submit a sample 'o.f. the San'-Antonio the Material's Testing.
and Reserach• Lab;orato_ry of the 'State of California for a test with a view
to' z•sIng it in future work.

introduced by 'Councilman M'eNear, seconded by Councilman Deiss, * accepting
the following bids, i : e.
1. The b • of K. Vonsen. Co. dated April 22., 19315, offering to
furnish Portland. Cement (high early strength) at 77 per sack in cloth
bags.,, with credit of. 8� for each cloth bag returned in good condition
And allowance• of 22,� per sack, for I . cash in 15 days; also additional 22�
per sack delivered from warehouse -;
2. The bid. of Crescent Electric Co,., 1167 :Harrison Street, San, Fran:
ci;so,
California dated April 22,, 19:35. offering to furn.ish. the 12 inch
galvanized electric' conduit at $..2135 per lineal foot, wi th calsh disc.ou.nt
of five • (5) per cent;
3. The said. bid, of Cre scent Electric Co offering to furnish the
#8 B. & S Gauge Hazard, 23`500 volt copper. wire at $.0785 *per . lineal foot.,
with cash discount of two (2) per cent;.
4. The bid of Hein Bros. Basalt Rock Co. dated April 22ny1,1935,
offering to furnish the ,coarse aggregate at $1..85 per cubic yard,, with
discount of 10�I per cubic yard if paid by the 25th of the month following
delivery; and. the .fine aggregate at "2..25 per cubic yard, with cash
discount of '10.0. per cubic yard if paid by the 25th of the month following
delivery..
and authorizing the Mayor to execute contracts with the above parties
for the purchase of :said materials at the prices and according to the-
'terms specified in said bids'; and directing that the- other parties
Piling. bids for sai -d: materials be notified of the rejection there.af,
and, the certified checks, which accompanied said bids 'returned to said
unsuccessful bidders,;t adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
