OF THE: JOURNAL` "The minutes of the last regular neeting of May 6th and the adjourned meeting of May 7th ivere read and approved as recorded. REPORTS. OF OFFICERS.: The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of Ordinance No.. 431 C. S. . REPORT& OF STANDING �CONMTTEES: The Finance Committee submitted itt report; whereupon Resolution 44389.C.S. introduced by ,Councilman Woodson, :seconded bg Councilraxi Gervasoni, directing the Auditor to, draw warrants (Nos. 2511 to 12619 inclusive.) against the various City Funds in payment of claims all ovred and approved by the Finance Conrhittoe, adopted by 7 affirmativ+ votes. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICAT,IONS:- Petztion signed by residents in the neighborhood -of 8th and F Streets,. protest- ing against the keeping of a large number of dogs at 406' 8th Street, read; filed, and referred to the City Attorney with .power to act. Letter from the League ':of California Municipaliti . asking that the City of- Petaluma oppose the passage of Assembly Bill 1279 read and filed, and an motion by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman Penry, the Mayor was authorized to eonply with said .r_equast of the League of California Municipalities by wiring Senator Slater and - asking that he strenuously oppose said bill. So ordered, NEW BUSINESS: PROJECT NO. -3 —CONTINUAT'ION OF MAIN ST,WIDENING: City-Attorney Brooks presented project s- tatdment No. .3 which had been prepared . for the continuation of the widening of Main .Street from the North ,side of Washington Street to the northern boundary of the city, whereupon Resolution 4390 C.S. introduced by Councilman McNear, seconded by `Councilman Dei.ss, approving the submission to the Director of Public `Works of the project to "widen Main, Street. from the North side of Washington Street to the Northern boundary of the city, by increasing the width thereof from its ,present width of 46 feet to 52 feet, said improvement to be paid for = out �of the city's share of the one - quarter cent gasoline tax, and authorizing the Mayor to sign and transmit said Project Stat6ment No. 3 to the. District Engineer, Depart- ment of Public Works, Division of Highways,,; adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Donation of 06.00 to Boy Scouts for Tents: The 'request of the Petaluma Boy Scouts for as sis tan_ ce in purchasing six tents needed for their trip to. Washington, D. G. was' reported, and i Woodson, Resolution ��4391 C.S. introduced by Councilman .. on, seconded by Councilman Jones,, appropriating the sum-of $36'.00 for the purchase of six tents for the representatives of the Petaluma .Boy Scout's at their convention in the .City of Washington, .D. C. 'and authorizing the Clerk to drag a warrant in said sum and deliver the same to the Scout Executive of said Petaluma Boy Scouts upon ,his: filing with her of a receipt showing that said "six tent "s have been purchased for said purpose, adopted by,7 affirmative votes. Mayor McFadden reported re the widening of Main Street that it had. been necessary to apply for four.weeks additional time for Project No. 2 as an SERA labor project. Junior Traffic Patrol: Councilman Gervasoni reported that the committee appointed to investigate the matter of better protection for the Junior Traffic Patrol had conferred with the Super'in tendent of Schools and the Chief of Police and had visited :schools in the Bay District and that it had been decided to ; move' the boys; from the. center of the streets to the curbs, thus eliminating much of the danger. Chief of Police Peters reported that Melvin DelMaestro had been selected as Traffic Officer and was now engaged in his duties as such. 534 y In connection with the continuation of the widening of Mikin Street, the matter of the necessity of the removal of established curb pumps along said street was discussed and referred to the City Attorney for investigation.
