Regular meeting Of the Council of the City Of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor McFadden.
POLL CALL.:
Present:`Councilmen De ss, Gervasoni, Jones, McNear, Penry,
Woodson , and Mayor McFadden.
READING OF THE'JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting.of May 20th were read.
and approved As recorded.
REPORTS' OF OFFICERS:
The monthly reports of the Whanfinger, Police Judge, Poundman,
City Treasurer,'and City Auditor, were read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of
Notice of Nominees for 'Public Office.
The City Attorney submitted a written opinion concerning the
city•ts rights with reference to the maintenance o, . f gasoline service . pumps
on the sidewalks or curbs of the city, which opinion Was read and filed..
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Comrriittee submitted.its_'report, whereupon
Resolution #4392 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Woodson, seconded by Councilman McNear, directing
the Auditor to draw warrants !%Tos 2621 to 2751 inclusive', against the
various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the
Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICAT
Application. of Herbert I. Vail for po.sit.ion of Police Officer
read and filed.
Letter from the League of California Municipalities, informing -
the City Council of the passage by the Senate of Bill X561, allocating an
additional one quarter cent of gas,o.line tax funds to, cities, read and
filed,-whereupon
Resolution #4.393 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Pe_nry, expressing_
the sincere appreciation of the Council to the Honorable Frank Merriam,
Governor of the'S'tate of California, for the genePous co- operation
displayed by him concerning the adoption and passage of said Senate
Bill #561, adopted by 7 affirmative votes., The Clerk.was directed to
forward a certified copy of-the above resolution to Governor.Merriam..
In-connection with the passage of the above mentioned bill,
Councilman Mc-Near moved, and Councilman Woodson seconded that the Clerk
be directed to forward :a letter of thanks to Hollis Thompson for his
valuable support. in behalf of the additional one- quarter cent gas tax .
allocation for cities,. So ordered.
A letter from F. Holthauer of 'San Jose, offering for sale a
grandstand, was read' and referred to the Park Commission.

Xe- Reynaud payment sewer construction:
Resolution #4394 C.S.
introduced by Councilman McNear, seconded by Councilman Deis's, authorizing
the Mayor to accept the payment of $$'58.66 from Henry Re'ynaud, covering'.
the cost of constructing a sewer and drain from the Reynaud Building
near Washington. Street into the Petaluma River,on ,or about the month of
April, 19 and _that in- accepting said sum he agrees for and on behalf
of this city that the payment thereof will not constitute an admission
of .liability by said Henry Reynaud or the owners of the Reynaud Building
for any of the cost of constructing the bulkhead near said building,
which said bulkhead was constructed in the month of March, 1934, under
the supervision of the city; adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

'introduced.by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Woodson., directing
the Clerk to advertise for five consec -tive days for the official
advertising for the fiscal year beginning July 1,1935, said bid t.o be in
wr.ting,and delivered to the Clerk of the City of Petaluma on or before

the hour of 7:30 P.M. June 17, 1935, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Re property sold to the City for taxes and taken from roll:
McNear brought up the 'matter of certain pieces
of property which have `been dropped from the assessment roll after
,.having been sold to the .C.:ity for delinquent taxes. He suggested
that thes.e delinquencies be reviewed and if possible the,pr.operties
sold and placed back on the roll. The matter was discussed and
referred to the Finance Committee and.th'e City Attorney for:
investigation and report back.:
Councilman McNear also reported.having made a comparison
of the number of .delinquencies of Petaluma,property for city
taxes and. for county taxes, and that he had found that 34 parcels
were delinquent in both City and County; 72 parcels had paid City
Taxes but not County taxes; and 7 had paid County taxes but not
City taxes. He pointed out that -the fact that so,many more
paid-city tax=es than county taxes was perhaps due to the larger
penalty charged by the city, and that this should be considered
when changing the penalties in,the present ordinance
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Radio Inspection-
The committee appointed to investigate the request of
residents for radio inspection reported.progress and were granted
further time..
Dog'Nuisance:

and the Chief of Police visited the premises complained of in the
petition filed at the last *Oet'ing. They found about.l2 dogs and
the condition of the premises about as would be expected where a
number of dogs are housed; He stated that he had written
to each of the signers of the.petiti s
on that they make
an appointment with him and tell him just what the nature.of their
complaints were, but that a Mr. Anderson was the only one who -had
responded by coming into the office and that he had stated that
about a year ago the barking of the dogs had greatly disturbed
his wife who was ill at the time, but that at present he had nothing
particular to complain of, The matter was .laid on the .table.,.
.Division of taxea:
The Finance Committee reported progre:ss in -the matt er of
the.2 installments of taxesand stated that they would bring in
recommendations at the next meeting of th-e Council.
The City Engineer was requested to complete the plans and
Specifications for Project #3, as quickly as possible.
