Adjourned meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor McFadden.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen Deiss, Jones, McNear, Penr,y, Woodson,, and.
Mayor McFadden.
Absent: Councilman Gervas.on e
PETITIONS AND COMIVIUNICATI:ONS:
Re bond o.f Treasurer:
Ci6mmunication from the Fidelity and. Casualty Co. o.f New York
regarding. the issuance of a bond for the City 'Treasurer read and filed
and the matter referred to Councilman Gervasoni and the City Attorney
for investigation and recommendation. The matter of bonding the
City Librarian was also referred to the above committee.
Petition asking reduction or elimination -of Tobacco License:
Attorney Leroy Lounibos- addressed the Council presenting a
petition. signed by 40 dealers in. cigars and tobacco, which petition
asked that the license fee required under Section 24 of Ordinance No.
239 C.Se be either entirely eliminated or reduced. The matter was
ref to _the Finance Committee and the' City .Attorney for investiga-
tion and report back..
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES.:

Ordinance No 432 C.S. introduced by Councilman McNear,, seconded
by Councilman Deiss, ratifying and approving the action of the Board
of Freeholders in employing DeWitt W. Krueger and Harry L. Say to
draft, check and examine the FreeY olders' - _Chart.br ubmitted at the
Special Election held January 15, 1935; approving the claim of said
De Witt W. Krueger in the sum of x$+'200.00 for expenses and professional
services, and the claim of Harry L'. Say in the sum of $100..00 for
legal se- rvices; providing for and authorizing the payment of said
claims, was read, and approved by. the City Attorney, whereupon
Resolution #4401 C S,
introduce.d`by Councilman McNear, seconded by.Counclman Deiss, direct-
ing the City Clerk to post said ordinance in three ` public places with
in the City of Petaluma at least 3 days before the regular meeting
at which the same is to be adopted, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1
absentee.
Plans specifications for continuation of Main St. widening:
The 'City Engineer submitted plans,, s,pecificat'ions and es'timatas
for the widening of IJlain Street from the North side of Washington St.
to the North boundary of the City of Petaluma, which plans, specifica-
tions, and estimates were filed, whereupon.
. °Ordinance'No. 433 C.S. introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded
by Councilman Woodson, providing for the improvement of Main Street by
widening the same from the North side of 'Washington Street to the
North- Boundary of City of Petaluma;; approving and adopting the
plans 'and specifications for said improvement prepared by the City
Engineer; authorizing the selection and appc`intrrnent of an ;Engineer to.
supervise said work_; authorizing the application to the ;State Emergency
Relief Administration to furnish the labor required for said work;
authorizing the employment of skilled labor and the purchase of
necessary materials,, and directing the clerk and auditor to keep
records of all expenditures for said improvement and to se.ctLre
reimbursement therefor out of the city's share of the State Gasoline
Tax was read, approved by the City Attorney, and ordered posted..
Ordinance providing for collection of taxes in two installments.-:
Ordinance No. 434 C.S. introduced by Counc lman. seconded.`
by Councilman.Jones, amending Sections 4, - 6, 15, and 25, of Ordinance.
No. 28 C.•S. entitled "An ordinance providing a system for the levy
and collect "ion of all the city taxes in the City of Petaluma," was
read, approved by the City Attorney., and ordered .published.
NEW B
Mr. D. F.'Begley, Accountant, submitted written recommendations
for the issuance of .receipts for public monies received by city officials
employees. The matter was discussed and on: motion by Councilman
McNear, seconded by Councilman Penry, Mr. Begleyf .s :report was adopted
and the .Clerk authorized to immediately purchase the necessary receipts
and forms called for thereby, and the'C.it:y Attorney was directed to
prepare a resolution to be adopted at the n.eYt regular ,meeting,

authorizing the installation of the system. So ordered.
Re parallel parking:
The matter of amending the present traffic ordinance to provide for'
parallel parking on Main and Third' Streets was discussed, and referred
to CouncilmanJones, the City Engineer, and-the City Attorney for inve
tion and report at the next meeting.
In this connection a discussion etas had regarding the adviseability
of parallel parking on Kentucky Street, Western Avenue and Washington
Street, and the reduction of the parking time limits in the business
district. These matters were referred to the - Street Committee, Chief of
Police, and City Attorney.
Police Radio:
Councilman Jones, Chairman of the , Buildings and Grounds Committee -,
reported that the committee had investigated the radio recently installed
for the Police Department that they had called in radio experts and had
them the radio; that the experts had carefully gone over the
set and had stated that they consider it to be carefully installed,
assembled and put together; the materials to be standard materials
easily replaced -.anal the set a good practical set which they can
cheerfully recommend.
On motion by Councilman I,ficNear, seconded by Councilman Woodson,
the report of the Commnittee was Accepted ,and and the C ity Attorney authorized,
to proceed with the matter of securing a permit from the Federal Radio.
Commission to operate the'set; So ordered.
Report of Light Committee:
Gouncilman'McNear submitted a written 'report of'the activities of the
Light Committee during his term ,chairman, which report showed
a saving as a result of the changes of certain lights, of x$566.52,
per year, plus a saving of $769;80 as a result of a new schedule of rates
adopted by the P. G. & E., or�a total saving of $1336.32 for the year.
The report was read and filed and Councilman McNear was thanked for his
splendid work as Chairman of this`commttee.
Report of Street Committee re removal of gasoline curb pumps:
Councilman Deis.s- reported that the Mayor, the Street Committee, the
City Engineer and Engineer Wildman had vi,sited:'the owners of the curb
pumps on Main and Third Streets, and had talked with them regarding,the
removal of the same. He stated that they had all expressed their willing-
ness to co- operate with the Council in this matter; that two of the
owners of curb.pump s
"s had stated that their pumps be removed and
not re- installed and that the owners of the other pumps would do everything
within reason to assist the Council in the matter.
Mayor McFadden thanked the retiring Councilmen for their fine work on the
Council".
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business on motion regularly made and carried
the meeting adjourned until Monday, July 1,1935 at 11 o' click A. M.
