REPORTS OF STANDI•N.G COMMITTEES The inance Committee submitted its report, Thereupon Resolution #4448 C:`S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded by Councilman Woodson, directing the Auditor t.o draw warrarits (Nos. 970 to 1052 inclusive)` against the ' vari,ous City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee., adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Re- Fes'too'ns of 'lights for Christmas decorations: Councilman Gerv =son , Chairman of the Lighting Committee, reported that the committee had considered the request of the Chamber of Commerce for permission to run streamers of lights from electro.lier'to electrol:er on both sides of Main and Kentud1�y Streets "between Washington. Str.e :et and Western, Avenue, said streamers to b'.e used for. C °hri :stmasrde.c.or.ations, and that the Committee r-e:commends the granting of ' the request. n 1 The Buildings and Grounds Committee asked for and were granted further . time to report their recommendations as to a stove for the meeting room on the third : floor. of the City Hall, NEW BUSIN Re - parking ordinance: Mr. M. 'Goldman,, representing a number- of merchants,. pre s a petition asking that the: present traffic ordinance be amended s,d as to provide a parking limit of two hours on all streets and to allow diagonal parking on all streets on which diagonal parking has been heretofore allowed with the exception of Vain Street. The petition contained 158 signatures. Mr. Goldman also presented another petition, signed.by 145 merchants, pledging themselves to strictly observe the parking limit as set forth by the City parking ordinance; pledging themselves to assume the responsibility of seeing' that their employees faithfully observe the spirit of the City of Petaluma ' s parking; ordinance; and 'also. pledging themselves to. sae that, no subterfuge -As used by themselves or their employees 'in contravening the spirit of the - parking ordinance, particul y g t by moving- cars from parking space'to parking spacea o e attheexpirationofthe time limit or in any other manner that the City Council in providing adequate parking spaces in the business district. S., introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Deiss, amending Sections• 31 and 22 of Ordinance No. 332 C. S. entitled, "An Ordinance regulating traffic upon the public streets and repealing all ordinanc °es inconsistent herewith, " r2yo H D 56 7 by providing that the time limit f. or. parking vehicles within any business diatrxie't' shall be extended to two hour.s.., and by adding subdivision 17 to 'said section 22 so as to provide for a- boulevard stop on 6th Street at its intersection with the northerly line of Mountain View Avenue, was read, approved by the City Attorney, and Resolution #4450 C. S. introduced by Councilman Myers, seconded, by Councilman Ingerson., directing_ that' said ordinance be published in the official newspaper of the city, adopted by the following vote.,: Ayes: Coun.cilmen.De ss, Ingerson, Myers, Penry, Woodson, and. Mayor McFadden. No: Councilman Gervasoni. Councilman Gervasoni stated that in: voting no on. the publication of this, ord- inance he was not voting against the amendment of Section 22 of said ordinance providing for a boulevard stop at Sixth•Street and Mountain View Avenue but against'th.e two hour parking time limit. Request to connect with. city sewer: R'e.qu.est of -Mr. Cayla_ for permission to connect with the city sewer on ,North Pain Street was ..referred..to the City Engineer and City Attorney for investigation: UNFINISHED BUSINESS Radio Control - Ordinance: Mayor 'McFadden appointed 0,ounc lman Ingerson a committee of one to investigate the request. for an' ordinance prohibiting interference with radio .reception.. Repairs to Washington. St. Bridge-*''' The Street Committee; was granted further time in the matter of repairs necessary to "the '- Vashington Street Bridge..'' The - Garbage Committee.wa -s granted further time to consider the proposal of-Frederick-Ray, Jr. for the removal of scrap iron, etc. from - the City Dumps. The City Attorney reported that more arrests have been: made for the violation of the tobacco license ordinance .and. that the trial of the defendants has been continued until the 4th day of November, 1935.
