II Gervas'on.i; Ingerson, Myers, Penry, REPORTS OF OFFICER'S - The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of Ordinance No. 443 C. S. PETIT'I'ONS AND 'COMMUNI C ATI ONS : Com_mun "ca l,on from t e orth Bay Division, League of California Municipalities, calling attention to the next meeting of the League at Cloverdale on November 2nd, read and filed. Letter' from the Division of Highways re the assignment of Engineer Wildman to work. at Sonoma for a period of three or four weeks., read and filed. The matter was discussed later and on .motion by Councilman Moods =on,, seconded by Councilman Penry, the . Mayor was authorized to notify .the office of the District Engineer of , the Division of Highways that the City of .Petaluma is willing to release Engineer Wildmari for-work on any other project. M.btion carried and so ,ordered. ADOPTION OF .ORDINANCES: rdinance - No. 443 S. "introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Deiss, amending; sections 31 and: 22 of Ordinance No. 332 C. S... ,entitled: "An ordinance regulating t- raffi,c upon: the public streets and repealing all ordinances inconsistent herewith,," by providing that the limit for parking vehicles within any business district shall be extended to two: hours, and by adding subdivision 17 to said secticin 22 so as to provide for a boulevard stop on Sixth Street, at its, intersection with the northerly line of Mountain. View Avenue, came up regularly and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes: Councilmen De,ss, Ingerson, Myers, Penry, Woodson,., and.Mayor "McFadden,. No: Councilman Gervasoni. NEW 'BUSINESS: Trans er of funds! Resolution #4451 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gervas seconded by Councilman Woodson... directing the Auditor and Treasurer to transfer the sum of $132.48 from the Street Fund to the General Fund; the ;sum of $41. from the Park. Fund to the General .Fund; the sum. of $107'.51 from the Police Fund to the Fund; and the sum of $19.01 from the Fire Fund to the General Fund, for gasoline used during the ,period from July 1, 1935 to September 28, 1935, and paid for from the General Fund, adopted by 7 affirmative votes,. 1 Financial aide- American Legion: Resolution #4452 C. S. introduced- by Councilman. W,00d:son, seconded by Councilman Gervasorii, directing the Auditor to draw a warrant against the General. Fund in the sum of $100.00 in favor of Petaluma Post No. 28, American Legion, to help defray ,its expenses f'or the Armistice Da:y Celebrati.on,, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Tobacco licenses: Attorney Leroy Lounibos addressed, -the Council on - behalf of the tobacco dealers who had previously filed a petition with the Council asking that the' license fee.required under Section 24 of Ordinanc-e -No. 239, be entirely eliminated.or that it b.e placed within reason- able .limitations in view of the- existing circumstances and the proportionate size - „of the business. 15r. Lounibos stated that he believed the ordinance to be unconstitutional. He also stated that the dealers. were willing to compromise. The matter Was taken under ad-viz ement. j .City Attorney Brooks gave a verbal. opinion regarding the request of the ,Library Board for financial. assistance and stated that he. would present a written opinion on the matter at the,next`Gmeeting FYO , IH 1 569 City Engineer Gonzalez`tiwas directed to reply to the letter recently received from the Pacific Tele. & Tele. Co. regarding the laying of conduits along Main Street. The matter of repairs to Thompson. Creek was referred to the Street Committee and. Superintendent of Streets with power to act.
