The City Attorney made a verbal report -in "the matter of

A letter was received from the Railroad Commission
stating that the' Board is mak ing an investigation into the rates,
s,ervi:ce, etc of t`s!e Pacific .Telephone and Telegraph Co. and asked
that the Council inform them as to any complaints. Referred. to the
3 City Attorney to answer after conferring with the Council.

investigation will be made.

A formal notice was - received . from the Health Board
of the appointment of Dr. A.- C. Anderson as .'Deputy 'Registar of
vital statistics of this city. Filed.
The proprietor of the lkashington St. 'Lodging House
asked permission to install signs in front of the upper story
of building. Referred to the committee on public buildings and
groands',. 1`4. F. Scott asked and was granted permission to
remove block curb and construct concrete curb and full w1dth
concrete.sidewalks.at his premise's at Fair and En-

Directing the City Clerk to purchase two corrugated
iron culverts as req ud&ted by the Supt of Streets.
Adopted by seven affirmative votes.
A telephone was ordered installed in the house of the
"D" at. bride. Councilman Healey brought up the matter of
regulating the actions of taxi drivers and hotel runners at the
Depot on the arrival of trains. The City Attorney was directed
to draw up an ordinance coverin same.
Chairman Allen of the Street Committee reported that

and the Council decided to return sanie. The Clerk was directed to

winter months was discussed by no formal action taken.
"'he matter of blasting - on Clay hill was again taken up
and discussed. 110 action taken.
The matter of the obstruction of Payran and Mary S.ts...
it was shown that the fences are still maintained on the street.
The City E ngineer was directed t•o establish street corners along
Washington St.. from Vallejo to Ellis.
The Mayor asked in reference to the repair of asphalt
streets. Chairman Allen of the Street Committee stated that the
Committee had decided to stop the work for the present to ascertain
whether the system of repair` iw economical. It was decided to
wait awhile and see how the new pavement wears
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The matter of the improvement of . Kent St. from T,� alnnt
to Howard :its. Protest having been filed at the previous meeting
- the matter .was laid over. lifter discussion on motion duly made and
seconded that action on the improvement of Kent St. from �salnut
to Howard be laid over for six months. Carried and so ordered.
