Minutes of a regular .meeting of the City Council was held this 19th day o:f March, 1917. 11 members present. ,Mayor Horwege presiding. YEADING OF - JOURNAL. Minutes of a regular meeting of March 5th were read and approved as.recorded. ;REFOR'' OF OFFICERS. The following 'reports of officers were read, received and placed on file; Report ofeasurer for month of February. Auditor ti The C:1erk presented affidavits from J. A. Olmsted for the pub,licat7.on *of - Ordinance No. 1.62 C. S. Filed. REPORT OF STANDING COMMITTEE . On finance. The report of the Finance Committee was read and same recommended for payment by the following resolution. R7A LS OLU _ION NO. 205,9. C.S. Introduced by Healey, seconded by Young. Adopted by seven affirmative votes. Directing the Auditor to draw warrants in payment of the several claims as subm:i_tted by the finance committee. Street Commttee..asked for grant of further time in regards to placing a light on J Street. .Building and Grounds Committee. Chairman Gos age presented bids for the linoleum to be placed in the Council and Cleric's office. Stone Furniture Company being the lowest bidder,, namely p165, same was granted by Resolution hESOLUTIO1 NO. 2060. C. S. Introduced by Gossage, seconded by McCargar. Accepting the bid and guarantee of the Stone Furniture Company for placing linoleum in the City Hall.. Adopted by seven affirmative votes. PETITIONS ANV CON1211UNICATIONS . Petition,, was presented by property owners on Third Street calling attention to the condition of Third Street and recommendirg. that the City improve the same, replacing the oiled macadam with concrete.. Filed. A boaainit_tee from the local W. C . - ,T. U. addressed''the Council and asked that the letters W. C. T. U. be replaced on the granite fountain.at Western Avenue and Main Street. The request was granted and the matter placed in the hands.of the-Street Committee. . r ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE RESOLUTION N0 . 20.61. 0. S. 1 Introduced by H:eale,y., •seconde.d by Young.. Adopting Ordinance No. 162, C. S. , being "An Ordinance Amending Sections 5.5 and 57 of Ordinance No. 4. Adopted'by seven affirmative votes. IJOAV NEW BUSINESS. -- RESOLUTION, NO. 2062, C. S. Introduced by Young,, seconded by Torr. Directing the City Attorney to tale the necessary steps for a bond election, for the .purp.o.se of voting bonds for the improvement of lvlain and Third Streets , . in the sum of $4.5,000. The City Engineer presented plans and specifications for the improvement o,f the following streets-.- Edith Street, East 'D to Jefferson. Sixth Street, from I Street *south to Lot No. 2. Baker Street, from Standley to Bodega Avenue. Same were adopted by following resolution: 'ES'OLUTI OI`1 NO. 2063, C. S. Introduced by Torr, seconded by Young. Be it Resolved that plans and specifications presented by the City Engineer for the improvement of Sixth Street fro;n "I" Street to the northerly line of Lot No.•2, and Baker Street from Stanley Street to Bo'dega Ave., and Edith :Street from Fast "D" to Jefferson streets, be and they are hereby accepted as and for the plans and specifications for doing, said work. No. 2,064,C.;D. .0rderin,a the following work to be done in said City, to wit: That Sixth street from the-southerly line of "I" stre.et to the Northerly line of Lot No. 2 be graded to the subgrade for its entire width and the roadway be paved with concrete and sur- faced with asphalt and hot screeningsand curbed with concrete curbs. A corrugated iron culvert be constructed on the crossing of "J" and Sixth Streets. Adopted by seven affirmative votes. RE S OLUT 10N OF IT N-. No., 2065, C.S. Order'in the following work to be done in said City, to wit. That Baker Street between Stanley and Bodega Ave. be graded to the sub grade and the roadway be paved with concrete and surfaced with asphaltum and hot screenings, and curbed with concrete curbs.
