Minutes of a regular meeting of the City Council held
man Healey. Mayor Horwege presiding.
Minutes of a regular meeting of April 2nd, 1917, were
read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICES.
The following reports of officers were read, received
and placed on. .file:

Attorney Hall reported that he had filed the findings-
in the Douglas Street condemnation matter, and that the Court had
signed. same, and that notice would be formally served on the int-
erested parties.
A warrant was ordered drawn in the sum o.f $592.21 which
amount the City's cost, same to be paid to the City Clerk on
deposit.

The report of the Finance Committee was read and same
recommended for payment by the following resolution.

Adopted by six affirmative votes, one absent.
Be it resolved that the protest against the work of
improving Edith. Street is disallowed,and that further action in
said matter is hereby postponed for further consideration.

Directing the Auditor to draw warrants in payment of
the several claims as submitted by the Finance Committee,..

Communication was received from the Canton, Petaluma
No'. lOtenderng the services of its members to assist the
Police Department in preserving order and protecting property
in the City during the absence of the organized mal.itia. Same
was accepted.

Street,.ob,ject ng to the street work bein done at this time.

Be it resolved that ioods:& Sylva are hereby granted an
extension of ninety days to complete their contract for the improve-
ment of bent. Street.
Mr. Stratton in a letter protested against the improvement
of Baker Street.. No action was taken in this.matter, as the protest
did.not contain th'e required -of front feet.
Attorneys Johnson and Cromwell, representing property
owners on sixth street, south of I, protested against the improvement
of Sixth Street to the City limits. There was no action taken,
and the proce.,edings will be under new specifications and resolutions
and the terminal will be further north -or closer to I Street. The
Council and the City Engineer,.da ided -to visit the vicinity Tuesday
afternoon at one o "clock, and arrive at a conclusion in regard. to
said improvement..,

to establish the of High Stre from Bodega Ave to .Stanley

Ordering the improvement of 'Baker 'Street, between Stanley
Street and Bodega, Avenue.
Adopted by six affirmative votes, one absent.
RESOLUTION NO.20:76 ,C .S .
Introduced by Young, seconded by Torr.
Adopted by six affirmative votes, one absent.
Directing the -Auditor to draw warrant for $592. -2.1 for the
payment to defendants in the Dougla's Street condemnation proceedings.,
same to be deposited in the Superior Court for defendants and also
for payment of costs -and expenses.
The persons owning property on 1-i Y Street were present
and the matter of establishing a grade was discussed. As no agreement
could be reached between the property owners, the Council ordered
the establishment of a grade.thereon.
The 1 1"acif.ic States Telephone Company asked for permission
to excavate Bridge Street for a .di,s'tance of 150 feet for the purpose
of e installing a pipe conduit As the plan did not show exactly what
was required the company was instructed to take the matter up with
the Superintendent of Streets and the Council.
The I matter -of allowing payments for lights and janitor
service at Dreamland, which is now being us by the •home guards
was' placed in the hands of the Building and Grounds Committee with
power to act.

The Petaluma Power and Water Co.mrany reported that
the fence between the Company's property and-Oak hill Far.x had
blown down, and asked that a new one bei replaced, and that the
City stand half.the expense. Same was referred to the Park Com-
missI.oner with power to act.

Special Tvkeeting.
Counci Chambers.
April 24th, 1917.
Minutes of a special meeting of the City Council
was held this 24th day of April,, 1917.
All members present. Mayor I ?orwege presiding.
This meeting was called to order for the purpose of
taking e.ction in regards to the Location of the Presto Electric
Company_ and granting them the pr:vi1e :ge of 'using ghat is known
as the foundary lot and building.
The company asked that the City make certain improve -
ments, at a cost not to exceed 'p1250, and they would guarantee
to employ not le,.ss than twenty -five men .
On motion duly made and seconded, it was decided that
if the Presto Company would do the repairing,t;hat the City would
at the expiration, of stm months,if they continued 'to employ twenty -
five men,to reimburse"'them for the amount expended.
'Councilman Allen wa directed to take the matter -up
with the company and report at the next meeting,.
