Minutes of -a regular meeting of the City C ouncil held
7'th day of April, 1917.
All members present, excepting Councilman Tom, who came
in before the meeting adjourned. :Mayor Horwege presiding.
READING OF JOURNAL
Minutes of a regular meeting of April .19th, and a special
meeting of April 24th, were read and approved as recorded.
ZEPOI T OF OFFICERS.
The following reports of officers were read, received, and
placed on file;

Police Judge for the month of April..
The City Attorney reported on the atatus of the foundary
building, stating the. owners have the right on termination of the
lease to rn building from the property.

On finance.
The report of the Finance Committee was read and same re-
eommended for payment_by - the following resolution:

Introduced by Healey, seconded by h1cCargar.
Adopted by seven.affirmative votes.
Directing the Auditor to draw warrants in payment of the
several claims as submitted by the finance committee.�"'�
Chairman 1 3ossage of the Building and Groups committee
reported that; they had agreed to allow 65 per -for the use of
Go'mpany "K" Armory.
PETITIONS AND COEdUNICAI'IONS .
An invitation was received from the Antietam Post IJo. 63
G. extending imitation to participate in the Memorial Day
Exercisas. Same was accepted -with thanks. -
Petition was -presented from the grocers and bakers, ask-
ing the Council to enact an 'ordinance , putting; a tax of $10 a month
for persons selling imported bread. On motion duly made and
seconded, same was laid on the 'table.

Introduced by Young, seconded by Healey.
Directing the City Clerk to notify all parties interested
in-the building situated upon what is known as the foundary lot,
t.o re,mo've said building on or before the 210,th day of !Vlay 1917.
Adopted by six affirmative votes, ona. absent.

Directing that B. H. Thomas be employed as Janitor of
the City r all, and also to perform the duties of Poundmaster at a
salary of $65 per month.

P.ESQLUTI'0N OF INIENTION NO. .2061,0.,S.
Ordering the following work to be dome and improvements
to be made in said-City of Petaluma, to wit
ghat Sixth Street from the Southerly line of -I 'Street
to a point 300 feet southerly of the southerly line of J Street
be graded to the sub grade for its entire width and the roadway be
paved with concrete and surfaced with asphaltum and hot screenings,
and curbed with concrete curbs. A corrugated iron culvert constructed
at the crossing of "J" and Sixth streets.

An ordinance regulating the weight of bread to be sold
by the local baxe:rs . Same was referred, to the itt -orney for
approval and the Clerk directed to have same published, according;
to law.

OPENING OF BIDS.
Bids for the improvement of Baker Street were pub'lically
opened and examined:._
There was one bid presented by Woods, Sylva and
Schluneger at the following prices, viz;
!grading N.50 a cubic R yard; Filling ,nothing Curb $..2'b
a linear foot; concrete base, x.071 a square foot.; wearing surface
$.012 per square foot.

received notice of appeal in the Douglas Street litigation, and
that he had filed a petition for possession and use, and that the
improvement of said street would. go right along•. The C'lerk'presented
