Minutes of a regular meeting of May 7th, 1917, were read.
and approved as recorded.

The following reports of officers were read, received
and placed on file:

City Attorney;Hall reported that he had been in- communica
ti.on with Congressman Lea at 07ashington, and had learned that there
, now something over ;21,000 in the River Fund to the credit of
Petaluma River. City Attorney Hall suggested that the report of the
engineers for this improvement should be forwarded at once to Washi Clerk reported having filed Affidavit of Posting and publication in
the <6thtSat. imiprovement , and also publication and posting award of con-
tract of Baker Street.

On finance.
The re port of the Finance Committee was - read and same
recommended for payment by the following resolution.

Directing the Auditor to draw Warrants in payment of the
several claiss as submitted by the Finance Committee.
Adopted by seven affirmative votes.
PETT AND CUNU.IUNICATIONS .
Petition ,was received from property owners fronting on both
sides of Edith Street, asking that they be•allowed to do the work under.
a pr vat'e contract. On motion 'by Young, seconded by Torr, I move that
.the petition to allow the improvement to be done by private contract
be ;ranted.
Vote: Ayes. ';IcCargar, Torr, Young.

Directing the auditor to draw a warrant in favor of
Furth Secy. of the National Flag Organization for ;�75 for celebrating
June 14th, National Flag Day..

Whereas the Lease of Messrs*, Stayner & Spurgeon for the
municipal property known as the foundry lot has expired, and
Whereas there are certain buildings upon said lot that
belong to the said Stayner & Spurgeon, and
Whereas the said buildings are of value to the City of
Petaluma, and -
. Whereas the said Stayner & Spurgeon have agreed to. sell and
dispose of said.. buildings to the- City of Petaluma for the sum of
Seven Hundred ('700) Dollars.
Be it 'therefore resolved that the City of Petaluma do pay
to.the said Stayner & Spur eon the sum of Seven hundred 0700)
Dollars for said buildings in the manner and as follows, to wit:
One Hundred (; 100) Dollars on the first day of November,
1,917, and the sum of One hundred ($100) Dollar upon the.first day
of each month thereafter until the said sum of Seven Nundred($700)
Dollars shall have been paid by the said City of Petaluma to the
said Stayner & Spurgeon.

'Councilman Young su that the P. & S. R. Ry. Co.
instal warning signal at the railroad crossing at the East D Street
bridge. The Clerk was instructed to notify them to that effect.
Councilman I'AIcCarga,r stated that the N. W. P. R. P. Co., .
and the P. and S. R. Ry. . Co . ; should improve their tracks at the
various drossings, to avoid the bumps. On motion of councilman
Young, City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans and specifica-
tions to be submitted.to the railroad companies for the improvement
of the crossings.
Councilman Gossage called attention that the P. G. &E.
Co. ha d not improved several places in streets where trenches -
had been dug. Superintendent of Streets Shaver stated that the
ei?,gineer of the roller had been away and that .this matter would
be taken care of in a few days.
