READING OF JOURNAh Minutes of a regular m eet ing of May 21st and a special meeting of May 2 °5th, were,read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS The following. reports of officers were read, received, and placed on file The report. of Wharfinger for the month of April n 't Ponndmas,ter " ri it + May Police Judge " n it May. The: , Clerk presented affidavits of publication by John A. Olmsted for ordenance No. 163,' Election Proclamation. Filed. City Attorney Hall reported on the Arthur case, and read to the Council the decision.of the Supreme Court. The City Engineer 'submitted to the Council plans and specifications for a uniform railroad crossing for concrete ,.and macadam crossing. Same was adopted, by the following resoluti RESOLUTION NO. 2087,C..S. Introduced by Young, seconded by Torr. Adopting plans and specifications for the improvement of the railroad crossings with concrete and vetrif'ied brick, and directing the engineer to take up the matter of said improvement with the railroad companies. Adopted by six affirmative votes , one 'absent . REPORT OF STANDING COToIIVIITTEE On fi nance . The report of the Finance Committee was read and same re- commended for..payment by the following resolution: RESOLUTION S10 : .2088 .0 C. S. introduced by McCargar, seconded by Young.. Directing the Auditor to d -raw warrants in payment of the several claims as submi.tted by the finance committee.- Adopted by six affirmative votes,. one absent. PETLTIONS AND COIQ�UNICA' IONS ` C,ommunication from the American Flag Association inviting the Council to participate in the Flag Day Exercises. Same was accepted. ,�----�� Property owners on Sixth Street below I Street, protested against the improvement of such portion.of said :street at this time. On motion duly made and seconded, prote was allowed. Carried and so ordered. Railroad - Commission notified the Council of the hearing to be held in San Francisco, June 24th., in regard to the raising of freight rates. Filed. Communication was received from Thomas E. Reed asking for a transfer of his liquor license.. Same was' granted by the 1 I 1 J Carl V. following resolution: RESOLUTION 1 2089 , C . S . 131 Introduced by Torr, seconded by McCargar. Authorizing the transfer'of the liquor- license now held by Thomas E. Reed to - J. P. Casabonne. Adopted by six affirmative votes, one absent. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES ORDINANCE NO. 1,64 Was introduced. Being an ordinance leasing those certain premises 'belonging the City of Petaluma, known as the "Foundry Lot" and the buildings thereof to the Presto Electric Company. ORDINANCE NO. 2093,C.S Introduced by . Tom, seconded Eby Young. Directing the Clerk to advertise for bids for the City printing and advertising for the year .1917-1918. Adopted by six ° affir- mative votes, one absent. Councilman Young reported the break in the new culvert under the railroad track in East Petaluma. On mot-i.on.duly made and seconded the engineer was instructed to install a "header" ;such' as was recommended when the culvert was constructed. So ordered. The matter of electric danger signals for.the electric railway crossing on East D. Street was laid over to determine . type t be installed. Councilman McCargar suggested a clean up day for the removal of grass and weeds from the streets and sidewalks, and Friday; June 15th, was the date decided for that purpose. Councilman Torr brought up the matter relative to the raise of wages for City,laborers, . This was made as a motion and seconded by Councilman Yourig. Minutes. o.f a special meeting called this 14th day of June , 19.17. All members present excepting Councilman McCargar. Mayor - - xo rweoe`pr -e sid ng This meeting was called for the purpose of determining what action the Council would :take' in reference to the purchase of United States Liberty Bonds. The matter was discussed at length, and it was finally agreed that the City purchase ""'10,000 Liberty Bond. RESOLUTION NO., 2094,0 S:e. Introduced 'by Horwege seconded *by Healey. Directing the Treasurer'to invest the sum of ten thousand $10,000 dollars of the Municipa Funds of the Ci of Petaluma in United States Liberty Bonds, at three and one-half per cent. interest .On motion duly made and seconded the Council Adjourned.
