Minutes of a regular 'adjourned meeting of the City Council
held June 19th, 1917. All members present. Mayor Horwege presiding.
READING OF JOURNAL..
Minutes of a regular meeting of June 4th, and a special
called meeting of June 14th, were r.ead and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
The following reports of officers were read, received and
placed on file:

The Clerk presented affidavits of publication by John A.'
Olmsted for the publication of Ordinance No. 164 and 165, C. S., also
Notice to Bidders for the official advertising for the fiscal year
ending June 30th, 1918.
City Attorney Hall reported that"the Superior Court had
s sued, an order giving the City possession of Douglas Street
which has been in litigation, and that: the City,could now proceed to
sewer and improve said street.

Councilman Torr, on behalf of the Committee on..the salaries
o.f.employees, asked for further time in which to report. Granted.
Councilman Young reported that the new concrete portion of
the Bremen street culvert to the river had been completed.
PETITION'S' AND COICaIUNICATIONS.
Communication from J. W. Jones, asking that he be appointed
Super ntehde'n't of the Rock Crusher. Filed
Communication from J. ILi. Walsh, reducing the price of the
tra-ffic street signs from $20 to .�15, and alloying the City credit of
'! '$20' on the next purchase, Filed.
Communication.from J. M. Walsh asking that the liquor
l for - the conducting of a saloon at 3`34 East D. Street be trans-
fe'rred to-Ben Corippo. Same was granted as per resolution No. 2098,0.S.

Granting the request , .of J. M., Walsh to transfer tide Liquor
license now in his name to Ben,Gorippo, and directing the Auditor to
note said change in the license 'book.
Engineer''Horwege submitted estimate and plans for the
widening of Kentucky Street. Same were adopted by Resolution No.
20 C. S
RE'SOLUT >ION NO. 2099 C.S.
Introduced by McCargar, seconded by Gossage.
Adopting plans, specifications and estimates for the wideni.ig
of Kentucky Street from the South side of Washington Street to the
north side -of Western avenue, and instructing the City Engineer to
obtain from each property owner on both sides of said street a permit
to widen said street and als a waiver of any and all objections they
may have there

RESOLUTION 110 2100 C . S .
Introduced by Young, seconded 'by Torr.
Ordinance 'No. 164, C. S. "An ordinance leasing those
certain premises belonging to the City of Petaluma known as the
"foundry lot" and the buildings thereon, to the Presto Electric
Company ", be and °the`,same is hereby adopted.
Adopted.by seven affirmative votes.
RESOLUTION NO. 2101,C
Introduced by Young, seconded by Torr.
Ordinance No. 165 C. S "An ordi;nande' closing and aband
m on-
ing`Redwood Street in.the City of Petaluma, and granting the right,
title and interest of the City of Petaluma therein to the Golden
Eagle 'Milling: Company, a corporation, and authorizing a, deed to be
executed therefor."
Adopted by seven affirmative votes.
NEW BUSINESS.
The Council voted to purchase two street traffic signs
from J. M. Walsh to be placed at the corner of Kentucky and Washington-
and at the corner of B and Fourth St., and to use the rebate toward
the purchase price. r
Councilman Young called the Council's attention that the
piling at the D Street Br�.dge had been damaged by,Barge of the P. and
S H. Hy. Co.. The P. & S. R. Ry. Go. will be notified to replace
same,
Councilman McCargar brought up the matter of concrete
Bl dewalksnot having been placed on certain portions of English Street.
No action was taken at this time, until a suit over a piece of
property on that street is settled.
The matter of purchasing eight new Cory hydrants now in the
corporation yard was discussed. It was decided to wait to see if the
?:hydrants were satisfactory, and if it would be necessary - to "buy them
all.at this time. The matter will be taken up with the Fire Com-
mi ssioners later.
Councilman McCargar brought up the matter of'having someone_
stationed at the Fire House when all the equipment is away. It was
decided to leave the matter to the -Fire Commissioners.
Councilman Young brought up the matte-r•of selling of oil
and renting the oil plant. After some discussion it, was decided that
in the future no permit will be given without the consent of the
Council.
The Street Superintendent was ordered .to remove - the hitch
rail :on the side of the McFadden Horse Shoeing Shop on Mary Street.
Councilman Healey suggested that three additional lights be
placed on Water Street. The same was referred.to the Street Committee
with power to act.

Two bids were received f:or the official advertising of the.
City of Petaluma, for the fiscal year ending June 30th, 1918
The bid of the Petalua Argu.s for half -inch brevier set
solids First insertion x+.50, each subsequent insertion .22.
The Petaluma Daily Courier for half -inch `brevier set solid:
First Insertion 4.40, each subsequent insertion $..20. ,
The Petaluma Daily Courier being the lowest bidder, they
were - granted the contract as per Resolution -No. 2102, C. S..
