Minutes of a regular adjourned meeting of the City Council
held July 19th, 19,17. All members presentee,xcept Councilman
Gossage. Mayor Horwege presiding.

Minutes of a regular meeting of July 2nd were read and
approved as recorded.

The Clerk presented affidavit o:f publica.tion of Ordinance
1o. 166. Filed.
The 'Stree.t Cornmit,tee' was granted further time in reporting
reporting on the plan for parking autos in,the business section,

Communc.at'ion wa °s relceived from the W. C. T. U. asking,
repeal of City Ordinance relative to 'the' censorship of moving pictures
and su.ggest.ing that, a new board be appointed. The City Clerk was
directed to,nofity the -W. C. T. U. that it would be necessary to
revoke the present ,ordinance in order to comply with their request
as the present ordinance - spe.cified who shall constitute the board
of cernsorship .
Petition from -the taxi owners in Petaluma protesting
against unlicensed cars carrying passengers - in the City limits.
' Bourke appeared for the petitioners and the matter was laid over -for
two weeks.
The Presto Electric Company presented statements of the_
amount expended on the City's building on the foundry lot, in the'
sum Of $969418. The c was referred to the Board of
Public Works to take up said company,

full final payment for band concerts.

Directing the City Clerk to'not:i:fy property owners on the
South side of Jefferson, bet. Erwin and Hopper Sts*to improve
sidewalks by construction of cement sidewalks, said work to be com-
menced and.completed within sixty days and according to.the grade as
established by the City of Petaluma and according to the,ordinances
regulating construction of sidewalks, and to the satisfaction of
the City Engineer.

Appointing John Olsen Janitor of'the City Hall at a
compensation of $20 per month.

The Engineer in charge of the highway asked for the
rent of The City scarifier for a few weeks, As there was some obje*ct-
ions to the same it was decided not to rent the searifierfor the
present.
-Mayor Horwege called the attention o-f the Council. to the
matter -of the Music Commission. On motion by S'tradling the- City
Attorney was directed to submit an ordinance to the Co.uncil,
ing the said commission.
On the occassion of the visit of Governor Stephens to this
vicinity to inspect the highways, the .Mayor requested the Clerk,
for the ;Council, to extend an invitation to pay a visit to this City.
The Mayot named the Council as a Committee as a whole, to arrange for
the proper entertainment of the Executive and party while- here. The
arrangements will be made as soon as the Clerk receives word of
time of%their arrival.
