REEADING OF JOURNAL.
Minutes of a regular meeting of July 16th, and a regular
adjourned meeting of July 19th,, were read and approved as recorded.

Communication was read from Highway Commissioner Stearn
stating that the Governor would be pleased to stop over at Petaluma.
The Mayor wap aut1gorized to name a committee of citizene to co- operate
with the'Council to meet the Governor, and t make known our wants
in reference to the State Highway.
Communi.6ation was received from property-owners on
Prospect Street, between Keller and Keokuk, asking that street be
curbed along the property line. Same was:referred to tne•Street
Committee.
Commtni..cation was received from the Railroad. Commission
relative to new motor vehicle act relative to the speed at railroad .
crossings,, and calling attention to the fact that new warning signs
must be installed. The Street C.ominittee was given power to act in
the matter of installing said signs in.t�his City.

Adoptinj plans and specifications submitted by the City
Engineer for the construction of a sewer along the center line of
Spring St., and the center line of Douglas St.

lESOLUTION OF INTENTION 110. 2134
Proposing that Douglas Street be improved by the construct -
ion of an iron stone pipe sewer, according to plans and specifications
s'ubmit'ted and this day adopted by the following vote:

The Street Committee was given - power to act in - the construct-
ion of a wooden platform the municipal 'bulkhead on the east side
of the river; same to be used by the_N:ott Fire Enginer in case of
fire on the, east side .
The matter of the music commission was taken up, and it was
derided that as the band had most of them left the-city, nothin;r will
be done at present, so the music commission matter will be left in
abeyance.
Councilman McCargar called attention to the dangerous
condition of the streamers of incandescent lights in the business
district. On motion duly made and seconded it was decided to remove
'the same at once, and store same for future use.
Chairman Gossage of the Street Committee stated that he had
looked into the matter oz tie purchase of'a suitable kettle for heating
asphalt for street repairs. He recommended the purchase of a sixty
gallon kettle, at a cost of $'277 from the A. L. Young Machinery Co.
The Committee-was given power to same.

Bills. for_ damage to piling along. the. r:fiver against the
Halvorsen Co., and the barges of the Petaluma Lighterage Co., were
referred to the City Attorney for collection.
Some complaint was made against the Northwestern Pacific
Railroad Company's repair of railroad crossing, the, work done not
being satisfactory, On motion duly made: and seconded, the Mayor was
delegated a committee of one to compel the company to do the work
properly. The Mayor will take the matter up with the company
pe rsona -my .
City Engineer reported having received waivers from
damages from all property_ owners on Kentucky St.., affected by the
widening of said Street, except Mrs. Temple, who could not be found.
It was decided to go ahead with the work at once„
