Minutes of a re <guiarmeetin; of the City Council held Nov -
ember 5th, 1917. All aiembers,present, excepting Councilman McCargar.
Mayor Horwege presiding.

Minutes.of a regular meeting of October 15th, 1917, were
read and approved - as recorded.
REPORT OF OFFICERS
The following reports of officers were read, received and
'placed. on file:
The report of Wharfinger for the month o* September

Uity ,Engineer Horwege reported on 'behalf of his office, and
the City Assessor's for the need of a large carriage typewriter. The
matter was referred to °the building And ground's committee with power
to act.
REPORT OF' STANDING COMAITTEE'
�On finance.
The report of the Finance Committee was read and same re-
commended for payment by the following resolution:

Introduced by Stradling, seconded by Healey.
Directing the Auditor to draw warrants in payment of the
several claims as submitted by the Finance Committee.
Adopted by six affirmative votes,.one absent.

, Communication from the Belgium F?elief Committee for donations
was read and filed.
An invitation was received from the National River and
Waterway Convention inviting the Council to send delegates thereto.
Filed.
Communication was received from City Attorney Rutherford
suggesting the meeting of City Attorneys of this District, at San
Francisco, November 10th, in the matter'of the application of the
Pacific Gas, & Electric 0gmpany,,_,..for a raise in the gas rates.

NEW BUSINESS
City Engineer reported that the bridge across Thompson
Creek was in an unsafe condition, and advised that sins be posted
to warn drivers of heavy vehicles.. Councilman Young also advised that
he. had examined the bridge and urged the immediate repair of same.

Introduced by Healey, sec onded by Young.
Directing Street superintendent to repair the bridge at
71h & G Streets across Thompson Creek by placing new stringers and
planking.

RESOLUTION NO. 2156, C. S.
Introduced by Young, seconded by Allen.
Authorizing the Santa Rosa, Petaluma and Sausalito Auto
Stage to carry passengers in transit from Santa Rosa and way- stations
to Sausalito through the streets of the -City of Petaluma.
Adopted by'six affirmative votes, one absent
A delegation of members of the Merchants Committee of the
Chamber of Commerce asked for contribution of $300 to de -fray the
expenses of the plans for the soldiers home- coming during the
Christmas Holidays. The matter was discussed, and finally disposed of
by the following resolution:

Introduced by Young,�seconded by Healey.
Authorizing the donation of 0300 t o the Merchants Committee
to defray expenses of plans for the Christmas festivities providing
the Merchants. Committee will present to the Council a complete
statement of the receipts and expenditures conne' therewith.
Adopted by six affirmative votes, one absent.
