ROLL CALL; Councilmen present, Allen Gossage, McCargar,Str.adling,
Young, and Healey. Absent Mayor horwege.
READING OF JOURNAL. The minutes of the last regular meeting held on
6th day of May, 1.918 read and approved as rezorded..
REPORTS, OF OFFICERS
.The City Clerk reported the sale of an additional $3000. worth of
U. S. Bonds to Geo. P McNear, and the filing of affidavits of publica-
tion and of posting of "Notice of "ward= 6f Contract" in tree matter of
Post Street sewer.
City Attorney Hall rendered a written opinion- on the question of :kJK
appropriating money far 'holding band concerts and held therein.that aE
an amount exceeding the sum of $300. cannot be legally a g- approp
iated in any fiscal year for entertainment or promotion. Opinion file,

The f-inance'Committee reported approval of various bills against kk
the several funds and the following resolut'ian introduced by Council=
man McCargar seconded-by Councilman Stradling was submitted,to -wit;

BE IT RESOLVED TH. the Auditor be and he is hereby directed to draw
warrents in payment of the several claims approved by the Finance Com-
mittee

BE IT RESOLVED HnT Floyd Drake be and is hereby appointed custodian
of the City Ambulance and the following schedule of charges shall be
adopted.;
h1inimun Charge $1.00
Each hour inside City $1.00
Outside of City §.50 per mile one way in addition to the
minimum charge of $1,.00.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Teamsters employed by the City and furnis
hing, feeding,a;ndf careing for their teams be and they are allowed
the sum of $5.50 per day for each team and labor furnished.
Adopted by 5 affirmative votes. 1 absent.
Councliman Young presented the matter of repairing cobble stone
side walk near Van Bobber garage on Main st. as Jan Bobber wished't
the same repaired and desired to have the Street Dept do the work
and he would pay the expense thereof, and on motion regularly made
and `C'�Lrried it was refered tai the Street Committee with power to
'.grant the request of Van Bebber.
UNFINISfi'.D BUSINESS.
In the matter of appropriation for band concerts; the following
resolution was adopted;

Introduced by Councilman..Allen, seconded by Councilman McCargar;

WHEREAS the Cha.mbe °r of Commerce of the City of Petaluma, by and
through a committee duly appointed, has requested that the sum of-
$1400. be donated from the City funds 'for the purpose of paying ft
for -band concerts during the summer months, and,
Whereas this Council as a.whole agrees with all the arguments ad
vaneed as to the benefit and pleasure derived by�the residents of
this community for the proposed Saturday night concerts, we find
that the Charter prohibits the expenditure of any sum in excess of
0300 for entertainment, and
WHEREAS this Council has been advised by the National Government
to exercise the most xgg& rigid economy in conducting the- financia t
affairs of all municipalities during-the war,
IT IS the sense of this Council that any and all consideration of
this matter be discontinued during the war.

carried the meeting adjourned.
