Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order
by Mayor Sales.
ROLL CALL:
Councilmen present; Allen,, Batchelor,Fa'rrell,McCargar,Riewerts,Van
Bebbex and Mayor Sales,.
READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting of ' July 2nd, were read and
approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS:
The financial reports of the Auditor and Treasurer for the month of
June were read and filed,- also the annual.report of the Library Trustees
read and filed..
REPORTS 06 STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Committee rendered its report of the allowance of
numerous claims against the City and Councilman IMcCargar introduced and-
Councilman Vah,Bebber seconded, the following resolution, esolution, to-wit:

draw warrant's,against the vari ous. funds, - in. the Treasury in payment of

to the annual banquet the Am,ericah Legion, read, filed and accepted.
A protest, signed by. a number o.f property owners on Fifth Street,
relative to the curb and 9U tt of :said street, asking that
the City pay ha:-If the expense, read and filed.
A protast,, signed by 68 residents and property owners residing in
the vicinity of the Labor 'Temple read and 'filed.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
Ordinance #927 C. S.
An ordinance providing blanket license for carnivals and concassiona
-forpublic festivals and amending ordinance #4,, C.S.., approved June 5t,4,
1911 by W. H'. Zartman, Mayor of the City of Petaluma read, filed and
approved by the City Attorney a-Ad ordered posted by the clerk.
NEW BUSINESS:'
After a lengthy, discussion relative to the improvement of 5th.-St.
and the allowing of certain curbs and
_guttars,, now in good condition, to
remain in said street, andIthe requast that the City pay half of the cost
of construction., it was decided that the 'Gouncil meet at 9 o"clock, Tuesday
morning, July '17th to inspect said street.
It Was. moved-,, seconded. and carried that the City Attorney notify the
P. G.. &,. E. Company that they could have the. use of the City land, near r the
D St Bridge for their proposed steel towers, under lease fora period of
5 pears, at a rental of �1.00:per month.

Mayor Sal_ s appointed Councilmen Batchelor, McCargar and Farrell
a comtittee of three to meet with the Labor Council and see if some other
suitable site. could be secured for their :dance pavilli,on, which they
contemplate erecting Sixth Street:.
The subject of City Flags was discussed at� length and the Building
and Grounds Committee was. authorized to purchase anew flag for the Plaza
and have the City Hall flag repaired. Councilman Farrell was instructed
to interview the American Legion in regard to displaying all.city flags.
The request of Mr. Armstrong for permission to tap the city water
line at Kenilworth.Park referred to Building and Ground Committee with
power to act.
Mayor Sales named Councilman Batchelor to take,his place on the
Building Perml and Flue Committee; Councilman Allen to.
succeed . ex- Council®
man Vlhita, and Councilman Van Beb:ber to succeed Il layor Sales on the
Sewerage System Committee and Councilmar:' R everts to su ° c'ceed the mayor
on the Garbage Ordinance Committee.
