The minutes of the last regular meeting of July 16th, were read
and approved as recorded.

The Finance Committee rendered its report of th allowance of
numerous claims against the City and Councilman Van Bobber introduced
and Councilman Mccargar seconded the following resoluti to -wit:

".BE IT RESOLVED THAT' the Auditor be and he is-hereby directed to
draw warrants against "the various city funds in,payment'of the claims
allowed and approved this.day by the Finance Committee.

Request from the Chamber of Commerce,, egg day committee, asking
that the City enter some kind of feature in the Egg Da Parade read and
filed. Later brought up under new business -and the Council agreed to .
participate in the ;same:
Petition, signed by .49 residents and property owners in the vicinity
of Western Avenue and Upham Street, pro.testing� against the erection of . the
Labor Temple on said streets read and filed.
Communication from the Egg Day Committee of the Petaluma Chamber
of Commerce making application for a blanket license for concessions of
all kinds.,for the sum of @1. 00 read and f iled.

"An. ordinance defin garbage and providing for the regulation, keep.-
ing, gathering, receiving, disposing and destruction thereof; prescrib-
ing containers in which garbage must be kept, and providing and making
a wiol'ation of the prov'isi'ons of this ordinaries 'a misdemeanor." Action
deferred until next meetings

On motioil made by Councilman Farrell, s econded by Councilman
Riewerts the Mayor named a ciommittee, composed of Councilmen Farrell, Van
Bebber and 'RieVierts to prepare an ordinance defining the construction
of business buildings. in the residential districts; the City Council to
grant the permits for.such buildings.
A committee, composed of Councilmen Farrell, Batchelor and kcCargar
was named by �th6` t confer with she American Legion to arrange
for exercises to-be held on Friday, as a tribute to the late President
Harding.
The matter.o:f purchasing necessary new flags was referred to the
building and grounds committ with power to act.
The installing of a steel cage at t'he entrance to the City prison
for the protection of the officers was referred to the building and
grounds committee with power to act.
The *G6.&adill author- i the City At torney - to make a formal demand
for the taxes of the. shoe facltory, which they have refused to pay on the
grounds that the leases included exemption from taxes.
President Hopkins of the Fair, Committee asked that the Council
have a water main extended to the Jefferson Street gate of Kennilworth
Park For fire protection. Referred to Fire Chief Adams and Councilman
McCarga:r for immediate action. Also tho matter of sprinkling East D
and ��ashington Streets during the fair and making some minorsrepairs
on East. D.., Street was brought up and referred to the street committee
and street superintendent.
The matter of purchasing a horse for the poundmaster was brought
up.Arid Chief.Floh:r was given authority to buy same.
