RE4DING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting of September 4th were read and
approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF CIi'Y OFFICERS':
Report of Street Superintendent for work contemplated during the coming
year, read and filed.
REPORTS. OF' STANDING CO 0AITTEES :
The °Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against
the City and Councilman McCar- , i- ntroduced and Councilman Van Bebber
seconded the following resolution,, to-wit:
Resolution 42810 C. S.
BE I'T RESOLVED THAT the Auditor be and he is hereby..dire,cted to draw warrant'a
against the. City Funds in pa of the claims allowed and approved by the
Finance Comm'itt.ee. Adopted by.7 affirmative votes.
Councilman Allen reported on the cost of a new bridge across Fridge Street
The City' Engineer reported that, the bridge on Sunny Slope Avenue is
entirely.outside the city limits.
PETITIONS AND COx�IIUNICATIONS
A communication from the City Health Officer., in., regard t.o sewers on North.
Fair and Forth Webster Street read and filed. Also a communication fro-M.
W. Z:. Edison on the same subject read and filed.
INTRODUCTION OF O]4DINANCES`:
An ordinance regulating the construction,, alteration or repair of
buildings for business purposes in the City of. Petaluma in certain designated
districts was introduced by Councilman Farrell, approved by the City Attorney
and ordered posted.
NEW BUSINESS:_
In re East I 'D ", Street:
The time for receiving and opening bads for the improvement of East 'ID►r
Street having arrived the Clerk reported having received two bids and pro-
ceeded to open and read said bids °from Schluneger Brothers and Ifm. Sylva and
thereupon Councilman Batchelor introduced and Councilman McCargar seconded::
Resolution o'f Award 1 2611 C. S.
awarding the contract to 9m. Sylva, he being the lowest. -and best bidder there.-
for and directing, the Mayor to execute and deliver proper contract for the
said work. - Adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, appoint-
ing Miss ,Lulu Egan a member of the Park Commission, adopted by 7 affirmative

Resolution #2813 C. S.
introduced by 'Councilman McCargar, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, granting
F'. V a permit to sell soft drinks, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

authorizing the Mayor employ an assistant to the City Attorney in.
certain civil actions now pending., adopted by'7 affirmative votes.
The natter of improving the'road to the garbage dump was referred to
the building and grounds committee°
'Representdtives'from the Pacific. Gas & Electric Company addressed
the Council in regard to'increased lighting for the street °s. The
matter was taken under advisement.
The proposed ordinance regulating the driving of cattle through the
city was referred back to the committee for redrafting.
