RO.LL CALL: Councilmen present; Allen, McCargar, Farrell, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. - Councilmen absent,• Batchelor. . READING OF THE JOURNAL The minutes of the, last regular meeting of October 15th and of the two special meetings of October 19th and 23rd were read and approved as. re- corded. REPO TS OF CITY OF FILERS The report of the Auditor and Treasurer for the month of October read and filed; also the monthly report of the Poundman and V read .arid f iled. REPORTS OF STANDING COMVITT^lEES : The Finance Committee. rendered its report of numerous claims against the City and Councilman IVIcCargar introduced and-Councilman Van Bebber seconded the following resolution, to -wit: Resolution #2834 C'..8. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Auditor be and he is hereby directed to draw Warrants against the City Funds in payment of the claims allowed and approved- by the Finance, Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. PETITIONS ADD COTvitfUNICATIONS: A petition from property owners on F Street asking for fire hydrants, betwo,eii 8th St and the westerly city limits read and filed, also a petition from property . owners in the vicinity of arebste and English Streets' with a similar request for fire hydrants read and filed. Later brought up under new business and itIIayor Sales appointed Councilmen IvlcCargar and 'Van Bebber a committee of two to investigate and report back. A cormnunication from Mr. Donohue requesting a sewer on Walnut Street, .read and filed.. A communication from the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Co,npany in regard t.o constructing an additional track across East "D" Street read and filed. I i;TTRODUCTIOIV. OI' OR77INANCES : An ordinance areating a City Planning Commission for the City of Petaluma, pursuant to the provisions of an act to provide for the establishment, government and maintenance of City"Planning Commissions within :murfiei'palities, approve May 2,1st , 1923 introduced by Councilman McCar;gar, approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted. An ordinance directing the laying and constructing of laterals to the main sewer by owners of land fronting on streets and roadways about to be improved by the City of Petaluma introduced by Councilman Allen, approved by the City Attorney and ordered published: :The garbage ordinance, introduced sometime ago and laid over for proposed changes was reported back and ordered published. ADOI'HOIkd OF ORDINANCES Ordinance No. 233 C S. came up regularly for adoption, said ordinance authorizing aha,empowering the City 26uncil of the City of Petaluma to expend the sum of money necessary to dredge ?etalur_ia i,ive from the easterly line of First Street to the Vt southerly line of ,ashington Sure °et Bridge and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes Allen, Farrell, McCargar, rie�ierts, 'tan Bebber. and 1dayor Sales; absent Batchelor. 5'42 NEW BUSINESS Resolution. =283'5 C. S introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman van Bebber, granting the application of 'Ch.ompson & Clark and K:•. E. Haley for per- mission to sell soft drinks, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The Dow - Harriman Company returned to the city the °lease to the foundry ° building and resolution j2836 C. S. introduced by Councilman Farrell and seconded by Councilman Van Bebber authorizing the Mayor to sign the cancelation of said lease was adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution. #2837 C. S. introduced by Councilman Mc'Cargar, seconded by Councilman Hiewerts, directing the City Clerk to advertise for .bids for the dredging of the Petaluma rover, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.' Resolution - #2838 C'. S. introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Ri granting the Northwestern Pacific Railroad Company the right to. construct and maintain one additional track across East ' Street, adopted by 6 affirmative - votes, one absentee. The report of the expert on the accounting of the City books was read and filed. The matter of electro-liers on Washington and Kentucky Streets in the vicinity of the new hotel was b'rou up and discussed at length and Mayor Sales a? pointed. a committee consisting of Councilmen McCargar- , Riewerts and Farrell to investigate the cost, etc...and report back at the next meeting. ; The committee on the redrafting of the cattle driving ordinance reported that they were satisfied.witn the old ordinance as it now stood and the new ordinance was therefore cancelled. The -new outlet sewer for Mountain View Avenue was 'discussed and the City Engineer was instructed to secure permission from the: Highway Commission to enlarge the same. It was decided that Mr. Howe, of the firm.of Howe US, Peters be invited to address the Council on the sewerage needs of this City next PrTonday evening.
