Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order
by Mayor Sales.

READIT�IG OF TIM' JOURNAL:
The minutes of the last regular meeting of November 5th and of the
Special ileeting of Novembe 13th were read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS
Report of the Supt. of Streets recommending the acceptance of 5th St.
read and filed and the City Attorney was directed to* prepare ordinance °
covering the same. The Supt. of Streets also reported having repaired the
bridge on Bridge Street a very -low figure.
Plans and .specifications by the City Engineer for a sewer on Walnut
Street were read and filed.
Certificate by the City Engineer showing amount of work done on East
Street and recommending payment of '3,00,0. to th6 contractor read and
filed.

The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against
the City and Councilman NIcCargar introduced and Councilman Van Bebber
seconded the following resolution -wit:
Resolution X2841 C. S. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Auditor be and he is hereby
directed to draw warrants against the City Funds in payment of claims allow-
ed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes ;l -
absentee.
Councilman Farrell entered the meeting at this - point.

Petition from property owners on Broadway Street asking permission to
construdt sewer in said street at private contract, read and filed.
Communication from the War'Department with reference to an application
by the Estate of A. Kahn to build a wharf on the Petaluma Creek, rea d and

ADO°TION OF ORDIfflU ES:
Ordinance No. 234 C. S. came up - regularly for adoption, said ordinance
directing the laying and constructing of laterals to the ?vain sewer by
owners o fronting on street.s and roadways about to be improved by
the City of Potaluma and was adopted by. the following vote; Ayes, Allen,
Batchelor, Farrell, M Cargar, rZiewerts, Van Be bber and 1.11ayor Sales.
Ordinance 11o. 235 C. S. came up regularly for adoption, said ordinance
defining garbage, etc. and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes, Allen,
Batchelor, Farrell, I`JcCargar, Riewerts, Van Bebber and dayor Sales.
Ordinance No. 236 C. S. came up regularly for adoption, said ordinance
creating a City Planning Commission for the City of Petaluma pursuant to
the provisions of an'act to provide for the establishment, government and
maintenance of City Planning Commissions within idiunicipa.l�ities approved
May 21st, 1923 and was adopted by the fo llowing vote; Ayes, Allen, Batchelor,
Farrell, I IcCargar , Riewerts Van Bebber and � =Eiayor Sales.

Councilman �1ylcCargar reported having conferred .wi.th ..the superintendent:
of the. water ..company..in regard .t.o .,lar w.ater...mains . on F Street and had
been assured that the pipe is. now' on`hand.for.a.larger main on F Street and
that work will,be commenced in the early spring. Hydrants will then be
installed where needed.
Councilman Farrell presented a set of plans prepared by Architect
Jones for the remodeling of the City Hall for the.purpose of using•the
lower floor for the fire station and the estimate of the cost for same.
He also read a- communication from -the architect which stated that in his
opinioa it seemed very risky to house the entire fire fighting apparatus
of the City in such an old building and after a lengthy discussion resolution
introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber
was adopted, making it the sense of the Council that the building is unsafe
and unfit for the housing of the fire apparatus and department.
Resolution -4x2.843 ".S. introduced by Councilman McCargar, seconded by
Councilman Batchelor, directing the Auditor to draw proper warrant in the

adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
The platter of reserve globes for the Electroliers was discussed and
®left to the street committee for investigation..
Mayor Sales named the City Planning Commission as follows M. Gold-
man, lvlr8. H. Reynaud, Tdrs. J. '.h". Hamilton and F. J. Greene. The City
Attorney', City Engineer and Mayor are the-other members of 'the board.
Resolution #2844' S introduced `by Councilman Farrell, seconded by
Councilman Batchelor, empo wering the Committee on the•new sewer system to
consult competent engineers concerning the installing of the same and
to report back adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Resolution f2845 C. S. introduced by Councilman :Farrell, seconded by
Councilman Van Bebber, granting L. Benson the privilege of connection
with thel sewer of J. lviomboisse on Bodega Avenue,, adopted by 7 affi
Votes. !
Resolution 42846 C. S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by
Councilman Allen, accepting the sewer on Cherry Street, adopted by 7
affirmative votes..
Resolution #28447 C. S. introduced by Councilman McCa seconded by
Councilmen Batchelor, approving the contract for the construction of a
sewer on Broadway Street between property owners and J. B. Silva, adopted
by 7 of f' votes.
Resolution 7#2848 C. S. introduced by Councilman Vail Bebber, seconded by
Councilman Farrell, recommending that a permit to build a wharf on the
Petalunial. Creek be issued in accordance with government requirements,
adopted jby •7 affirmative votes.
Resolution # C. S. introduced by Councilman McCargar, seconded by
Councilman i3atche.lor, directing the City Engineer to prepare a description
of the exterior boundaries of the lands to be benefited by the opening of
G Street, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.,
A; statement showing the condition of the city funds was read and
- filed..
The status of an alley on Oak Street and several in 'the Fair Ground
addition[was referred to the City Attorney for investigation.
