Absent; Councilman Allen. READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes of the last regular meeting of December 3rd, and the special meeting of December 28th, read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OY CITY OFFICERS: The monthly reports of the Auditor Wharfinger and Superintendent of Streets were read and filed. . REPORTS` 'OF. STAbMING C,0 II•TTEES : The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against the City and Councilman wTcCargar introduced and Councilman Van Bebber seconded, the following resolution,, to-wit: Resolution X2861 C..S'. .BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Auditor be'and he.i.s hereby directed to draw warrants against the City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance: Committee; adopted by 6 affirmative votes; 1 absentee. ` The Street'Committee submitted three: plats.on the sidewalk que +st op.. The City Engineer explained that weather was too cold to lay :sidewalks now and the matter was laid on the table. PETITIONS AND COI.2,1 : Communication from Hunt & Behrens asking for permission to build a wharf on the waterfront connecting the fl2cNear Kahn estate wharves, read and filed. Telegram from Congressman Lea in.re Petaluma River project read and filed. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES, 1 Ordinance 238 C. 'S.' introduced by Councilman Farrell, second - ed'by.Councilman Van Bebber came up regularly 'for adoption, said ordinance .repealing ordinance No. 4, C. S•. , and was adopted by the following vote;; Ayes; Batchelor, Farrell, 1.1cdargar,Riewerts,Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Absent Allen., Ordinance.No. .239 C. S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, second- ed by Councilman Allen came up regularly for adoption, said ordinance being an ordinance to license and regulate certain business, hereafter spec fiead, transacted or -carried on .within the corporate limits of the City of Petaluma,.California, fixing the rate of license tax upon the same and providing for the :collection of said license tax and punish- ment for carryibng on such business without a license, and for violating the provision hereof, and repealing all other ordinances and parts of ordinances is conflict herewith and was adopted by the following vote, Ayes Batchelor, Farrell, McCargar, ,Riewerts , Van Bebber and h; -Iayor- Sales. Ordinance No. 241 C. S, introduced by Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Riewerts being an ordinance accepting the. roadway of Fifth Street from the easterly line of "B" Street to the westerly lire Of "•F" Street in the City of Petaluma, and was adopted by the following 'vote; Aye,s., Batchelor,, Farrell,, McCargar, .I ie erts,, Van. NEW BUSINESS: Resolution #2862 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded 'by Councilman dcCargar, directing the Auditor to draw proper warrant in the sum of @40.00 dues for the League of California Municipalities, -adopted by 6 affirm- ative votes, Tabsent.ee . m nesolustion - X2863. C S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Batchelor, authorizing the Illayor and City Attorney t*o make proper agreement with h1r. Roselli concerning the proposed continuation o,f Sixth Street., adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The matter of the sewer on lvIr. Phoehlmanr_'s land on IV-1t. View Avenue was brought up and referred to the Street Committee for invest= igation.. The request of the Chamber of Commerce that insurance be placed on the fair buildings by the'City of'Petaluma was referred to the buildings and grounds committee. Resolution -. #2864 C S. introduced by Councilman Farrell; seconded by Councilman Van Bobber, recommending that the application of Hunt & Behrens for pe- rmission to construct, a wharf at First Street be granted by the U. 'S. Government, providing, that the said Hunt .& Behrens aonstru.ct a proper runway connecting with First Street for the use of the Fire Department, adopted by 6 affirmative votes., 1 absentee. Resolution #286.5 C,, S. introduced by Councilman 11cCargar, seconded by Councilman Batchelor, ordering the City Ambulance delivered to the Superint.erident of Streets, for use in his department, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l,absentee. Resolution #2866 C. S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded .'by Councilman Van Bobber, appointing a committee of three consisting of the IGZayor and two other members of the City Council as a Ways and Means Committee for the purpose of purchasing necessary fire equipment and hydrants, adopted 'by 5 affirmative votes; two absentees. In this connection Mayor Sales appointed Councilman Farrell and Van Bobber on the committee. Resolution Ordering the ,'ork #28.67. C'. S. introduced by Councilman. Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bobber, directing the City Clerk to, advertise for bids.for the sever to be constructed on jalnut Street, from the majDle in' Kent Street to the manhole in Oar Street, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1.abse'ntee. Resolution +2868 C S. introduced by Councilman Bdtchelor', seconded by Councilman TAcCargar, recommending the adoption of the Extension of the Petaluma,River project pursuant to conditions named in telegram from - Congressman Lea and that the City Cle -rk be directed to notify Congro Bea by telegram of the said recommendation, adopted by 6 affirmative votes; 1 abse -ntee . Councilman N1c0argar submitted a new plan for the bridge on the, end of- I Street. No action taken. No ;action 1ivas taken in the :natter of the oinoning of "•G!' .Street.
