Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Sales.
ROIL :CALL
Councilmen present; Allen, Batchelor, Farrell, ivlcCargar , Rie- ,
Van Bobber and Mayor Sales.
READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes ''o'f 'the last regular meeting of January 21s.t and the
adjourned meeting of January 23rd were read and approved•as recorded.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS:
- The monthly re;ports'of the Wharfinge Auditor and Treasurer
wore read and filed.
REPORTS OF .STANDING COhUdITTEES:
- The`Finand6 Committee 'rendered its report of numerous clams
against the City and Councilman It2cCargar intr;odi:ced 'and Councilman Allen
seconded,, the following resolution:
Resolution 7#288'x, C'. S.
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Auditor be and he is hereby authorized
to draw warrants against the CitT' Funds 'in - payment of claims allowed and
approved.by the Finance Committee. Adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
. Councilman lldcCargar reported the I St. and Sunny Slope Bridge
completed. .
PETITIONS AND COT24UNICAT IONS
A petition from residents in the .vicinity of English and Broadway
Streets, asking that a street light be placed at the corner of said
streets, read and filed. Later taken up xx dzz and referred to the Street
Committee with power to act. .
A petition from property owners on hlebster Street, protesting
against the building of sidewalks on said street at the present time,
read and filed. Brought up under New Business and referred to the
Street committee for- +..and report. The question of building
sidewalks on Dana Street and in front of the Misses Humphrey property on
G Street was also to the Street Committee for investigation.
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES:
- Ordinance No. 242 C. S., introduced by Councilman Van Bobber,
seconded by-Councilman Batchelor came up regularly for adoption, said
ordinance fixing the fees of the City Engineer of the City of Petaluma
for services in the matter of establishing grades and lines for side-
walk improvement and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes, Allen,
Batchelor, .Farrell, IulcCargar, Rietwerts, Van Pebber and IMRlayor Sales.
Noes none, Absent none.
Ordinance No. 243 C. S. introduced by Councilman Batchelor, seconded
by. Councilman Farrell came up regularly for adoption, said ordinance
ordering the opening and widening; of "G" Street and appointing three
commissioners to assess benefits and damages and to have general super -
vi•.sion of the proposed work, and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes,
Allen, Batchelor, Farrell_, McCargar, Riewer.is, Van Bobber and 1vlayor Sales.
Noes none Absent none.
I ' NEW BUSINESS
Bids for sewage sys,.tem
The time having.arrived for receiving and opening bids for the
making of a necessary survey for the nevi sewage system for Petaluma, the
Clerk reported having received two bids and proceeded to open and read
the same from the Elrod Engineer Co. and Messrs. Howe and Peters. The
bid of the Elrod Engineering Co. being illegal, Resolution 2883 C. S.
introduced by councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Allen, awarding
said w.ork:. to Messrs. Horne & Peters, and authorizing the lkLayor to execute
proper contract for same, was adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Re;so;lution 2885 C.S...
introduced by Councilman IIQCar-gar, seconded by Councilman Batchelor,

directing the City Lnginear to furnish necessary material and labor for
the construction of.a sewer.f.rom.t.he manhole on 2nd and P. Sts. to the
manhole on lst and P Street, a distance of 246 feet, adopted by 7
affirmative - votes.
The Clerk read the.conclu:sions and recommendations of Colonel
Deakyne on the Petaluma Creek project and it was regularly moved and
seconded that a letter of appreciation by. forwarded to Colonel:Deakyne
for his interest in this matter.
The Clerk read notice from the Superintendent of Street of
City sidewalk to be laid on Howard Street. Piled:
The matter of the moving of the _office of the - Superintendent of
Street and the City Engineer to better quarters on the third floor of the
City Mall was referred to the,buildings and grounds committee with power
to act.,
The matter of opening'Court Street was brought up and discussed.
No action.
