CALL Councilmen present; Alleil, Fa rrell, IvIcCargar ,Rievie -bber and _,layor Sales. Councilman .absent ; Batchelor. READING OF THE JOURNAL The 'minutes o.'f the last regular 'meeting of' February 18th and the ad- jourhed meeting of February .25 "th were read and' approved as - recorded. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS 'The 'mozithly'reports of the Auditor, Treasurer. and Wharfi:nger were rea& and filed. The City Engineer renorted the sewer on 'III"' Street had been completed. The-City Engineer also reported the conditions on Keller Street between Western Avenue and "A" Street and gave an estimate of the amount of curb and gutter necessary for the Park at Bassett and Liberty Streets Later brought up - Under the head of new business and on motion regularly-made and carried 'he was instructed to put in said curb and gut ter REPORTS OF STANDING C.O2,11ITTEES The; Finance Committee rendered its 'report of numerous claims against the City and.Gouncilma�i McCargar introduced and Councilman Allen seconded . the following resolution_, to -wit: Res.olution #2891 C. -&. BE IT 1 ]SOLV ED THAT the Auditor be and he is hereby directed to dra ti�arrants against the City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes , 1 absentee p The Building and Grounds Committee reported that they had met :rith the Fir& Commissioners last Friday and had decided on the remodeling of the City hall and the removing of one stairway as the only feasible r)lan at this time for housing the new fire apparatus. They gave an estimate of X3,'000 for this work. Later brought up under the head of new business and. on motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Allen, the said report of the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Fire Commission ers was acce - oted. Qou.ncilman A,llen,, of the `street Committee, reported on Keller Street, stating that it had been accepted by the City and was badl;: in need of repair. PETITIONS AND COMAUNICA' ION'S C.omnunication from the League of California Municipalities in re conference of city officials to be held at Sacramentodarch 15th, read and filed. Letter from the Great '1este Power Company .regarding the changing of the date of franchise tax payment read and filed and referred to the City Atto INTRODVGTION.OF ORDINARCES: Ordinance introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Beb'ber, amending Ordinance 1 36, Charter Series, regulating awnings and signs in the City of Petaluma, approved by the City Attorney and ordered published. ADOPTION OF DRD:INANCES : Ord-inanc- e'Bo,. 244 C.S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilmen Van Bebber -came up regularly for adoption said ordinance repealiAg ordinance No. 243 C.S. and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes, Allen, Farrell, McCargar, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Absent Ordinance No. 245 C.S. introduced by Councilman I: seconded by Councilman Batchelor came up regularly for adoption said ordi:ha hce ordering the opening and widening of "G Street and appointing; three commissioners to assess benefits and damages and to have general super- vision of-the proposed work and was adopted by the following vote; Ayes, ::llea., Farrell, TdicCargar, Riewerts, Van Bebber and IV'Ia,yor Salsa - Absent, Batchelor. 562 NEW BUSINESS: Resolution, X2.892 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Allen, author - izing the Mayor to make proper contract with Joseph Roselli for -the na reservation of land for the opening of Sixth Street, adopted by 6 affirma- tive votes, 1-absentee. . Resolution #f.26,93 C.S. Introduced by Councilman'McCargar, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber. BE IT RH'SOZVED THAT the public interest and necessity demand the follow- ing improvements and additions to the Fire Department,; of the City of Petaluma, to- wit: The purchase of one pumping engine for .the' sum of J 'P13,000.; of Hydrants for the srffil of ; ?3,000; of one auxiliary hose wagon for the suni of X1500. ; of fire hose for the sum of - ��1500; of .Chassis . and rack for hook and ladder truck, for. the sum of ?�_'33000 and one hose drying - rack for the sum of 0500.; and BE. IT FURTHER RESOLVED T the costs of such improvements and addi- tions to the fire Department of the said City of Petaluma would be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of the municipality and will require the incurring of a bonded indebtedness therefor. - Adopted•by F affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution #2894 C.S. Introduced by Councilman Riewerts , s- econded: by Councilman Allen. - BE IT RESOLVED sIA1 the public interest and necessity demand the rolloairing improvement and addition to the City Hall of the City of Petal- uma, to -wit: The remodeling of the said City- -Fall for the housing of the Fire Department, said remodeling to cost the sum of yP3,000, and BE, IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the cost of such improvement and addition to the City Hall of the said City of Petaluma would be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of tree lJunicipality and vrill require the incurring of a bonded indebtedness therefor, - Adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
